ABOUT THE ROLE
Under the direction of the Nurse Unit Manager, the Staff and Community Development Nurse will provide ongoing assessment of the knowledge and skills of clinical staff within Ngala’s Residential Parenting Service alongside providing education to stakeholders within the community. This role includes planning and implementation of staff training programs including orientation, coaching and support for new staff.
WHAT YOU’LL DO
Responsibilities include but are not limited to:
- Plans, prepares and manages training and development activities for new and established staff.
- Co-ordinates, facilitates and delivers learning opportunities/In-service programs to enable staff to attain and sustain clinical competency.
- Monitors and promotes clinical and professional development opportunities for staff, addresses deficits and monitors progress.
- Provides education to external stakeholders as requested promoting Ngala services as part of providing this education
- Maintains excellence in the use of interpersonal skills and leadership skills to guide the provision of appropriate client care and service delivery.
- Demonstrates an understanding of perinatal and infant mental health and how this aligns to the research informing practice in parent /child relationships and the early years.
- Provides education that is aligned with evidence-based information relating to early years parenting, child development, family and child health and wellbeing.
- Educates considering compliance legislation, and Ngala policies, procedures and code of practice.
- Proactively seeks professional development opportunities for self and team members to maintain current knowledge and evidence-based best practice
What We’re Looking For
- Hold qualifications in Child and Community Health Nursing with a minimum of 5 years’ experience and maintain current registration with Nursing and Midwifery Board of Australia.
- Demonstrated advanced knowledge of and skill in working with Family partnership-based approach to practice.
- Demonstrated high level of interpersonal and relationship building skills.
- Well-developed communication skills both written and oral with a strong focus on reflective listening and partnership-based working relationships.
- Well-developed analytical and problem-solving skills showing initiative, creativity and flexibility.
- Demonstrated knowledge and experience in working with families, and an ability to reflect on the relevant impact of perinatal, infant mental health and relationship-based work in the early years.
