About the Role
We’re looking for an experienced Venue & Events Manager to lead the operations of the Gold Netball Centre (GNC) and the delivery of our major competitions, carnivals and events.
Reporting to the Chief Operating Officer, this is a key leadership role and you’ll be central in bringing some of WA’s biggest netball competitions and community events to life, while helping shape the ongoing growth and utilisation and commercial sustainability of one of WA’s premier netball facilities.
Key Responsibilities
- Managing venue logistics and operational requirements for major competitions and events, including the WA Netball League, Association Championships, Metro League and community carnivals
- Manage the activities of the events and competitions team, including coordination of competitions, events, programs and coordination of umpiring volunteers and officials for these activities
- Oversee venue operations and maintain Netball WA’s obligations under the Co-Management Agreement with VenuesWest
- Maximising venue utilization and identifying opportunities to grow revenue through competitions, events, programs and external venue users
- Overseeing venue security, access, CCTV, alarms, keys and fobs, as well as maintenance and facility presentation
- Overseeing the day-to-day operation of the venue kiosk with the Venue Coordinator, including staffing, stock customer service, cash handling and financial performance
- Ensure strong risk management, WHS and compliance practices across the venue and events
- Leading a culture of continuous improvement, service excellence and operational efficiency
- Supporting strategic facility development and identifying opportunities to grow the use, profile and commercial sustainability of the Gold Netball Centre
What You’ll Bring
- Relevant qualification in Sports Management, Event Management, Business Management or a related discipline (Essential)
- Minimum three (3) years’ experience in venue management, event management or related field (Essential)
- Approved Manager and Responsible Service of Alcohol (RSA) certificate or willingness to obtain one (Essential)
- Ability to work flexibly with rostered hours across weekdays, weekends and evenings (Essential)
- Demonstrated experience managing a multi-use venue, including day-to-day operations, contractors, security, maintenance and stakeholder relationships
- Experience in budget management, financial reporting and commercial operations
- Demonstrated ability in leading and managing staff, contractors and volunteers, including performance management and workforce planning
- Experience in the sport/not-for-profit industry would be highly regarded
- Excellent organisational and communication skills
- Strong relationship building and stakeholder engagement experience
- Demonstrated alignment with NWA values and a commitment to service excellence
