Montessori Beginnings is a growing organisation with services across Melbourne, and we are currently looking for passionate and experienced Chefs/Cooks to join our teams across Western Melbourne.
We currently have multiple opportunities available, including:
• Full Time Chef, Hoppers Crossing
• Temporary Part Time Chef, Geelong
• Potential Permanent Friday Chef position, Maribyrnong
• Future Chef opportunity at our newest service in Harpley, opening late 2026/early 2027
These roles are ideal for cooks or chefs who are passionate about creating healthy, balanced and nutritious meals for children, while becoming a valued part of a warm and welcoming centre community.
At Montessori Beginnings, our chefs are given the opportunity to truly make the kitchen and role their own. We value people who take pride in preparing seasonal menus, building positive relationships with children and families, and maintaining high standards in food safety and kitchen presentation.
About the role
As a Chef/Cook at Montessori Beginnings, you will be responsible for:
• Preparing healthy, balanced and appealing meals and snacks for children
• Developing seasonal menus that cater to dietary and cultural requirements
• Managing food orders, budgets and stock control
• Maintaining Food Safety records and ensuring compliance at all times
• Building positive relationships with children, families and team members
• Supporting a warm, welcoming and inclusive centre environment
To be successful in this role, you will have:
• Experience in a similar role, ideally within Early Childhood Education and Care
• Current Food Safety Supervisor Certificate
• Current First Aid, CPR, Asthma and Anaphylaxis certificates (or willingness to obtain)
• Current Working with Children Check
• Strong organisational and time management skills
• Excellent verbal and written communication skills
• Ability to be flexible and adaptable
• A positive attitude and good sense of humour
• Experience developing nutritious, balanced and seasonal menus for children
