Summary:

We are seeking a highly skilled Senior Electrical and Instrumentation Designer to join our engineering team in Brisbane, Queensland. This role is crucial for delivering high-quality design solutions that meet industry standards and client specifications. The successful candidate will play a key role in enhancing our project outcomes through innovative design and technical expertise

As an Electrical and Instrument Designer at Momentum, you will have the opportunity to work with an exceptional team, grow your skills and capabilities across multiple disciplines, with excellent career development opportunities. You will work on projects critical to current and future energy needs and be responsible for project deliverables, including:

  • Brownfield modifications of offshore assets to ensure future reliable operation
  • Renewable hydrogen project development
  • Compression stations to ensure Australian energy grid resilience
  • LNG (Liquefied Natural Gas) developments to boost energy security

You will be responsible for:

  • Technical design drafting of Electrical, Controls and Instrumentation interfaces for Greenfield onshore projects.
  • Producing CAD of Electrical and Instrumentation drawings, schedules, material take-offs, 3D models and other required drafting deliverables. The scopes generally include Medium and Low Voltage connectivity, including, lighting, UPS, instrumentation, fire and gas, and control systems.
  • Ensuring deliverables comply with the scope of works, client specifications, and Australian and International Standards as applicable.
  • Liaising with the client, suppliers, other disciplines, and other stakeholders as required.
  • Accurately reporting on progress of deliverables, providing forecast to complete and targeted completion dates.
  • Assisting in developing and maintaining methods, documentation, and systems.
  • Assisting in development and maintenance of standard drawings.
  • Assisting the Lead Designer during model review
  • Develop and produce detailed electrical and instrumentation design documentation.
  • Collaborate with project engineers and other stakeholders to ensure design alignment with project objectives
  • Conduct design reviews and provide technical support during the construction phase.

What will you bring?

  • Ability to work with and interpret survey information.
  • Electrical and Instrument layout experience
  • Sound knowledge of typical equipment expected on facilities within the energy sector.
  • Sound understanding of electrical and instrument requirements for the Oil & Gas and Energy sector
  • Experience in multi discipline projects
  • Sound understanding of constructability, maintainability, and operability requirements.
  • Sound understanding of safety in design.
  • Sound knowledge of hazardous area requirements..

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering or a related field.
  • Minimum of 5 years of experience in electrical and instrumentation design within the engineering sector.
  • Proficiency in design software such as AutoCAD, EPLAN, or similar tools.
  • Strong understanding of Australian electrical standards and regulations.
  • Excellent problem-solving skills and attention to detail.
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team in a fast-paced environment.
