About the role:

Melville Cares is growing, and as a result, we are seeking an Allied Health Team Assistant to join our team and support our expanding services. The successful candidate will work under the direction and delegation of allied health professionals, supporting a range of therapeutic, lifestyle, and leisure programs for our clients. You will assist with day-to-day care, ensure individualised therapy, and play an integral role in improving clients’ well-being and quality of life. 

Key Responsibilities:

  • Assist clients in participating in therapeutic programs, including administering group and individual interventions. You will be mostly supporting our Physiotherapist, however on occasion you will also have opportunity to support our Occupational Therapists. Some duties you will be conducting include the facilitation of physiotherapy prescribed exercise programs, functional mobility practice, collecting equipment for both our physiotherapists and occupational therapists, hand therapy, booking in appointments and more.
  • Support clients in meaningful, purposeful activities tailored to their interests and preferences.
  • Provide personalised services as per client care plans, adhering to Melville Cares’ policies and relevant legislation.
  • Document client progress and feedback to allied health professionals, contributing to goal-setting and program reviews.
  • Communicate effectively with clients, families, colleagues, and the community, ensuring respectful and professional interactions.
  • Complete administrative tasks to support the allied health team and maintain efficient service delivery.
  • Participate in regular supervision and professional development to ensure quality care and service delivery.
  • Maintain a safe and healthy work environment, adhering to WHS standards and reporting hazards when necessary.

As the successful candidate, you must meet these selection criteria:

  • Certificate III in Allied Health Assistance.
  • Minimum of 2 years Aged Care experience is preferred working as an Allied Health Assistant/Therapy Assistant. Strong person-centered skills and ability to engage with clients of all abilities.
  • Excellent written, verbal and interpersonal communication skills with clients, colleagues, and supervisors.
  • Demonstrated ability to work without direct supervision, organise and prioritise tasks, work effectively under pressure, problem solve and meet deadlines.
  • Proficient with computers and Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, Outlook) and experience with Client Management Systems.
  • Current Driver’s Licence and road worthy vehicle
  • National Police clearance (less than 3 months old).
