About the role
Reporting to the Chief Operating Officer, the Head of IT will lead MIA’s technology function and play a key role in supporting the organisation’s clinical, research and operational objectives.
This role is responsible for the strategic direction, security, performance and continuous improvement of MIA’s technology environment. Working closely with the Executive Team, you will ensure our systems and infrastructure remain secure, reliable and scalable while identifying opportunities to enhance efficiency, innovation and service delivery across the organisation.
Key responsibilities
- Develop and deliver MIA’s technology strategy and roadmap.
- Provide strategic technology advice to the COO, Executive Team and Board as required.
- Lead cybersecurity, data governance and technology risk management initiatives.
- Ensure the reliability, security and performance of MIA’s technology infrastructure, systems and applications.
- Oversee technology projects, service delivery and continuous improvement initiatives.
- Manage technology budgets, vendors, contracts and technology-related capital expenditure.
- Partner with stakeholders across clinical, research and corporate functions to deliver effective technology solutions.
- Lead and develop a small, high-performing IT team.
- Identify opportunities to leverage emerging technologies and drive innovation across the organisation.
About you
You are an experienced technology leader who can confidently operate at both strategic and operational levels.
- Tertiary qualifications in a relevant technical or informatics field. A Master’s degree (MBA/MS) is preferred.
- Minimum 10 years’ experience in IT, including at least 5 years in a senior leadership role, preferably within the not-for-profit healthcare or clinical research sector.
- Strong command of enterprise architecture, cloud solutions (IaaS/SaaS) and modern clinical applications.
- Expert knowledge of data privacy and security requirements.
- Comfortable balancing strategic leadership with hands-on involvement when required.
- Strong leadership skills with experience managing small, multi-disciplinary technical teams.
- Strong ability to communicate complex technical concepts to non-technical executive stakeholders.
- Ability to adapt to changing priorities and manage multiple projects simultaneously.
