Mega Electrics Australia is a National electrical contracting company specialising in HV and LV across different sectors from infrastructure, industrial and commercial to deliver successful outcomes for our clients. We have helped in delivering many major projects throughout Victoria including Spark North East Link, CYP Metro Tunnel and SRL Suburban Connect.

We currently have a opportunity for HV electricians to join our high performing team who are an integral part of our business to support projects and provide turnkey solutions for our clients.

About the Role:

Reporting directly into the Project Manager within the team, your role will include but not limited to:

Key Responsibilities:

  • Working within a high performing and dynamic team to help deliver all aspects of electrical works.
  • Cable Hauling and HV & LV equipment installation.
  • Prepare, terminate, and joint HV cables up to 33kV (XLPE and PILC).
  • Install and test terminations (indoor and outdoor) including heat shrink and cold shrink systems.
  • Carry out HV jointing with various cable types (single core, multi-core).
  • Perform cable pre-testing and phasing checks.
  • Ensure all work complies with AS/NZS standards, safety regulations, and project specs.
  • Maintain detailed job records, test sheets, and cable schedules.
  • Providing mentoring and development to the team.

 

Skills & Qualifications:

  • Licensed A-Grade Electrician (VIC).
  • Minimum 2+ years of HV terminating experience.
  • Hold a current High Voltage Operation – HV Switching certificate.
  • Certified HV Cable Jointing & Termination Training (preferred manufacturer certifications: 3M, Tyco/TE, Pfisterer, Raychem).
  • Ability to interpret HV schematics and cable schedules.
  • Ability to work as part of a dynamic team.
  • Valid driver’s license and White Card.
  • Current LVR & CPR

 

Desirable:

  • Certificate III ESI Distribution Underground (Cert III HV Cable Jointing).
  • Experience on Victorian infrastructure projects.
  • Ability to write and interpret HV Switching sheets.
  • Experience in 66kV Cable Jointing.
  • Cable testing and fault investigations.

 

The successful candidate ideally has experience working on both small to large sized projects, is driven and self-motivated, along with excellent communication skills, customer service skills, coupled with effective trouble shooting skills.
