The Opportunity

We are seeking a skilled and motivated Solicitor to join our team in Brisbane with a strong interest in taxation, trusts, superannuation, structuring and succession planning. This is an exciting opportunity to work with a team of talented solicitors and support staff and further develop your skills and career within a fun and supportive work environment.

You will be part of an energetic team with direct mentoring from senior Principals and will have the opportunity to develop your skills across a range of taxation, trusts, superannuation, structuring and succession planning, areas.

Key Responsibilities

• Core duties and responsibilities of your new role will include:
• Conducting legal research and drafting advice to clients on a range of trust matters
• Drafting private client legal documentation (trust deeds, family constitutions, business and asset succession plans, limited recourse borrowing arrangements for super funds, etc)
• Drafting advice on a wide range of trust law issues (including with recent new legislation for Property Law Act and Trusts Act in Queensland),
• Acting on contentious trust law matters as they arise for trustees or beneficiaries under:

– Discretionary trusts

– Testamentary trusts

– Superannuation funds

• Assisting with managing client relationships
• Developing and maintaining current knowledge in the following areas:

Taxation as it relates to trusts, deceased estates and business succession arrangements

– Trusts

– Superannuation

– Structuring

– Succession (private client and business)

Ideally, you will have:

• Strong attention to detail and a commitment to delivering high-quality work.
• An interest in, or experience with, taxation, trusts, superannuation and succession planning
• High analytical skills and attention to detail
• A commercial approach and willingness to develop deep client relationships
• While not essential, experience in other tax areas, or in general corporate/commercial work is also desirable.
