The Opportunity
We are currently looking for an experienced Solicitor to join our Brisbane team on a permanent full-time basis. You will be part of a dynamic team and will be responsible for overseeing a range of interesting, challenging defendant insurance files with reputable clients. In this role, you will receive ongoing mentoring and development from two Principals, as well as support from the wider team.
The Role
We are seeking a 1-3 years’ post admission Solicitor, ideally with exposure to defendant insurance, personal injury or general commercial litigation. Around 2 years’ experience is considered the sweet spot, however strong newly admitted solicitors with relevant experience will also be considered.
Key Responsibilities:
- Manage a diverse range of defendant insurance matters, including personal injury, property damage, public liability, product liability and recovery claims.
- Provide timely, commercially focused advice and maintain direct client relationships. Prepare pleadings, court documents, correspondence and legal advice.
- Negotiate settlements and represent clients at mediations, conferences and court appearances. Manage matters through all stages of the litigation process.
- Collaborate with colleagues across the team and support the development of junior lawyers and support staff.
About You
The successful candidate will possess the following:
- 1-3 years’ PAE, with demonstrated experience relevant to the role.
- Strong understanding of personal injury claims and processes (particularly under PIPA) as well as general liability claims, court procedure and pleadings.
- Excellent communication and negotiation skills with clients and other practitioners.
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
- A keen eye for detail and excellent time-management skills.
