About the Role

Due to continued growth, McDermott Aviation is looking for an organised and detail-focused Assistant Accountant to join our Finance team in Cooroy.

This is a hands-on role supporting the wider Finance team with day-to-day transactions, supplier payments, reconciliations and month-end processes. You will work across multiple currencies and liaise with internal teams and external suppliers to help ensure our financial processes remain accurate, efficient and well organised.

The position would suit someone with previous accounting or bookkeeping experience who enjoys working as part of a collaborative team and is looking to continue developing their accounting career.

Key Responsibilities

  • Process and verify supplier invoices, including matching invoices to purchase orders
  • Prepare weekly supplier payment runs and remittances
  • Process transactions across multiple currencies
  • Complete credit card and supplier statement reconciliations
  • Accurately record financial transactions and journal entries in the general ledger
  • Assist with month-end and year-end processes, including prepayments and accruals
  • Maintain accurate, confidential and organised financial records
  • Liaise with internal departments, clients and suppliers to resolve billing and payment queries
  • Provide general administrative and financial support to the Finance team as required

About You

To be successful in this position, you will ideally have:

  • At least two years’ experience in an accounting or bookkeeping role
  • A relevant professional qualification, or be currently studying towards one, such as CA, CPA or ACCA
  • Intermediate Microsoft Excel skills, including pivot tables and basic formulas
  • Experience using Microsoft Dynamics 365 Business Central, although this is not essential
  • Strong attention to detail and organisational skills
  • The ability to prioritise competing tasks and meet deadlines
  • A professional and discreet approach when handling confidential information
  • Clear written and verbal communication skills
  • A practical, team-focused attitude
