Description

At NextPath Continuous Learning (part of the Mater Dei Organisation), we empower and support individuals with an intellectual disability to meet their self-directed goals. We collaborate with the individual and their family/supporters to teach them new skills and assist them at workplaces or other places in the community.

An opportunity is available for Program (Disability) Support Workers to join our dynamic team. In this role you will work hands on with program participants to implement their daily programs and help them reach their goals. We are all about building capacity, rather than doing “for” our program participants.

 

KEY TASKS AND RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Individualised community-based support
  • Working with participants to develop independence and daily living skills
  • Assist with medications and other duties as specified as per the participant support plan
  • Maintain participant records to ensure consistent and quality care
  • Actively contribute to a team environment through open communication, participation in regular staff meetings, planning and reviews
  • Display a client focused and person-centred manner
  • Transporting participants, both to-and-from home and our Service as well as within the community

 SELECTION CRITERIA

  • A solid belief in the right of all people to determine the path their life takes
  • A demonstrated ability to work independently and as part of a team
  • Sound verbal and written communication skills
  • A sound understanding of your legislative obligations to ensure that people with a disability are not treated less favourably than a person without a disability, in the same or similar circumstances
  • High standards of ethical and professional behaviour
  • A valid WWCC or willingness to obtain as part of the employment process
  • A current NDIS Worker Screening Check or willingness to obtain as part of the employment process
  • NSW Full Drivers license
  • Full comprehensive vehicle insurance
  • Ability to be available for either morning (7am start) or afternoon (5:30pm finish) shifts

ADDITIONAL REQUIREMENTS

  • Own car and current driver’s licence – essential (green provisional licence as a minimum)
  • Capacity to work outside normal hours if required
  • A current first aid and CPR certificate or willingness to obtain
