About the Role

You will provide support within our brand-new Townsville residential home, helping create a safe, stable, and nurturing environment for young people with complex needs. As a Youth Worker, you’ll play an important role in supporting young people to overcome challenges, build resilience, develop life skills, and achieve positive outcomes. Working alongside a passionate and supportive team, you’ll help create a place where young people feel connected, empowered, and able to thrive.

Key Responsibilities

  • Create a safe, stable, and supportive home environment for young people with complex needs.
  • Build positive and professional relationships that foster trust, connection, and growth.
  • Support young people through challenging behaviours and emotionally difficult situations.
  • Apply trauma-informed practices to promote wellbeing, resilience, and positive outcomes.
  • Encourage independence by helping young people develop practical life and social skills.
  • Respond calmly and confidently to incidents, conflict, and crisis situations.
  • Work collaboratively with the broader care team to implement individualised support plans.
  • Maintain accurate and professional documentation, including case notes and incident reports.
  • Model positive behaviours, healthy boundaries, and effective communication always.
  • Contribute to a strong team culture through teamwork, reflection, and ongoing learning.

 

Essential Requirements

  • Experience in Youth Work, Child Safety, or a related field
  • Current, unrestricted Australian Driver’s Licence (open class)
  • Certificate IV in Child, Youth & Family Intervention, or similar (or working towards it)
  • First Aid & CPR certification
  • Availability for shift work (including sleepovers & weekends)
  • Current Paid Blue Card
  • National Police Check (within 12 months)
  • Ability to obtain LCS check
  • Hope & Healing Certificate (we can assist if needed)
