Description

Position Summary

We are seeking an experienced and motivated Machinery Coordinator / Senior Operator to oversee the operation, maintenance, and scheduling of vineyard machinery and equipment. This role is critical in supporting efficient vineyard operations and ensuring machinery is maintained to the highest safety and performance standards. You will also be expected to work as a Senior Operator.

Key Responsibilities

  • Coordinate daily deployment of vineyard machinery and equipment.
  • Schedule and oversee preventative maintenance and repairs.
  • Monitor machinery performance and maintain service records.
  • Manage fuel, parts, and equipment inventories.
  • Liaise with the Viticulturist, operators, and external service providers.
  • Ensure compliance with workplace health and safety requirements.
  • Train and support machinery operators in safe and efficient equipment use.
  • Operate machinery, including grape harvesters, spray rigs, and mowers.

Essential Criteria

  • Minimum 5 years’ experience working as a Mechanic or Machinery Coordinator, preferably in viticulture or agriculture.
  • Minimum 3 years’ experience in all vineyard operations.
  • Experience in agricultural, horticultural, or viticulture machinery management.
  • Strong knowledge of tractors, sprayers, harvesters, and vineyard equipment.
  • Mechanical aptitude with the ability to identify and troubleshoot equipment issues.
  • Experience and understanding of OH&S pertaining to machinery and farming.
  • Excellent organisational and scheduling skills.
  • Strong communication and leadership abilities.
  • Commitment to workplace safety and quality standards.
  • Positive attitude and team-oriented work ethic.
  • Current driver’s licence.
  • Valid Australian working rights.

Desirable Criteria

  • HR (Heavy Rigid) licence.
  • Experience with grape harvesters, advanced spray units, and under-vine mowers.
  • Welding experience.
  • Forklift licence.
  • First Aid certification.
  • Vineyard Supervisor experience.
