About the role / Key Responsibilities
We are seeking a Senior Disputes & Litigation Lawyer to manage debt and asset recovery matters for national and international clients across Australian jurisdictions, including breach of contract and enforcement of guarantees and indemnities.
The Key Responsibilities include:
- Being the Account Manager responsible for one of the team’s largest clients, building trusted relationships with senior client stakeholders, providing exceptional client experience , and continuing to grow the spread and depth of work for this key client by acting as a true business partner, not just a legal advisor
- As a Senior team member, work closely with the Head of Disputes + Litigation to continue to grow and enhance the practice group including acquiring and retaining similar debt and asset recovery clients that meet the firms ideal client profile
- Lead a small team who will support in the delivery of legal work and legal outcomes for the client/s
- Work closely and collaboratively with team members of the Disputes + Litigation team as well as other teams across Law Squared
- Manage the retention of clients including engaging and nurturing these relationships, improving reporting and outcomes for the client to showcase value being generated by virtue of the engagement and relationship
- Actively work with the Disputes + Litigation team to execute the team goals and achieve the targets in line with Law Squared Strategic Plan
- Actively adopt and embrace the use of technology and new technology tools to deliver legal work in a more efficient and cost effective manner
- Participate in client acquisition and retention strategies and activities on behalf of the Disputes + Litigation team
Other responsibilities include:
People development and management
- Work with your team members and support, train and mentor to enable a consistent quality and style in the Law Squared way and support the development of team members through providing clear, constructive feedback
- Support with the review and improvement of the service offerings and solutions including the ways of working, proposals, knowledge sharing and the use of technology
- Assist in onboarding of new team members
Operational Excellence
- Being able to manage large matter portfolios efficiently
- Consistently uses data, reporting and workflows to drive performance and outcomes for clients
- Continuously improves processes and identifies opportunities for automation and innovation
- Strong project management and prioritisation skills
Client experience
- Deliver legal services in the Law Squared way, providing a consistent, quality service
- Manage, nurture and grow our clients by developing strong, trusted, empathetic relationships with them
- Be able to influence stakeholders at all levels and comfortable presenting to senior executives and leading difficult conversations when required

About you
The ideal candidate:
We are looking for a Senior Disputes + Litigation lawyer ready to join an innovative and compelling alternative to the traditional firm. The ideal candidates will:
- Have 10+ PQE in civil litigation
- Have experience in:
- General debt and asset recovery litigation across all State and Federal Courts;
- working with national clients on recovery matters including enforcement action; and
- Insolvency litigation, including conducting winding up and creditor’s petition.
- Have great attention to detail;
- Have the ability to work in a team environment and collaborate where necessary;
- Have strong communication skills (both verbal and written) and the ability to engage with key clients;
- Be comfortable working in a technology-enabled legal environment and open to adopting new tools, platforms and ways of working; and
- Supervise, mentor and coach junior and/or graduate lawyers
