Position Details

Kiama Community College is seeking an experienced and outcomes-focused Manager – Youth Engagement and School Partnerships to lead the delivery and growth of programs that strengthen young people’s engagement with education, training and employment.

Employment Type: Full-time 

Hours: 37.5 hours per week

Location: Mundamia, NSW, with regular travel to other campuses, partner schools and organisations 

Salary: Grade 8 commencing salary of $100,561 + annual leave loading + superannuation + not-for-profit salary packaging 

Reports to: General Manager – Training and Learning

About the Role

The Manager – Youth Engagement and School Partnerships will lead the implementation and service delivery of Kiama Community College’s youth engagement portfolio. The immediate priority is the School Engagement Support Program, including establishing and managing the operating model required to deliver the program across NSW.

You will lead a geographically dispersed team of coordinators, facilitators, youth workers and support staff, while ensuring services meet contractual, funding, budget, reporting, child safety, privacy and organisational requirements.

The role will also build strategic relationships with schools, government agencies, employers, community organisations and First Nations stakeholders. These relationships will support stronger education, training and employment pathways for young people, including Externally Delivered Vocational Education and Training and School Based Apprenticeships and Traineeships.

Key Responsibilities

  • Lead the implementation and statewide service delivery of the School Engagement Support Program.
  • Establish and manage effective operating models, regional coordination, staffing arrangements, service schedules and escalation processes.
  • Lead, support and develop coordinators, facilitators, youth workers and support staff across different locations.
  • Ensure services meet contractual, funding, budget, reporting, child safety, privacy and organisational requirements.
  • Monitor participation, engagement, progression, transition and wellbeing outcomes.
  • Build strong relationships with schools, government agencies, employers, community organisations and other key stakeholders.
  • Develop sustainable referral, partnership and pathway opportunities for young people.
  • Coordinate the growth of school-based vocational education, apprenticeships and traineeships.
  • Work with Course Managers to assess program demand, delivery capacity, viability, student support requirements and organisational risk.
  • Build respectful relationships with Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander students, families, communities and organisations.
  • Use service data and stakeholder feedback to identify risks, improve delivery and support sustainable growth.

Essential Requirements

You will bring:

  • Demonstrated experience leading complex education, youth, community, employment or human services programs.
  • Experience overseeing service delivery, workforce planning, operational performance and organisational outcomes.
  • Demonstrated experience developing initiatives that support young people’s engagement, participation, education, training, employment and wellbeing.
  • Proven ability to build productive relationships with schools, government agencies, employers, community organisations and other stakeholders.
  • Experience identifying emerging needs and converting opportunities into sustainable programs, services or partnerships.
  • Demonstrated experience managing contracts, funding requirements, budgets, reporting obligations, compliance frameworks and operational risks.
  • Highly developed communication, leadership, influencing and relationship-management skills.
  • A demonstrated commitment to child safety, inclusion, culturally responsive practice and respectful engagement with Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples and communities.
  • A relevant qualification in education, vocational education and training, business, community services, youth work, careers, employment services or a related discipline at Diploma level or above, or equivalent professional experience.
  • Current Working with Children Check, or the ability to obtain one.
  • Current National Criminal History Check.
  • Current C Class Driver’s Licence.
