About the opportunity:
We are seeking a customer-focused and motivated Parts Interpreter to join our parts department and play a key role in supporting the dealership’s service, sales and retail operations. In this position, you will be responsible for accurately identifying, sourcing and supplying parts to meet the needs of our internal teams, trade customers and retail customers, while delivering efficient and professional service.
This is a fast-paced, hands-on role suited to someone who has strong automotive parts knowledge, excellent attention to detail and enjoys working with customers and a team. Working closely with the Service and Parts teams, you will contribute to the dealership’s success by ensuring accurate parts identification, maintaining stock availability, maximising parts sales opportunities and providing timely solutions to customer requirements.
Working Hours: Monday to Friday, 7:30 am to 5:00 pm
Key responsibilities:
- Provide professional and knowledgeable customer service to retail, trade and internal customers.
- Accurately identify and interpret parts using manufacturer catalogues, parts systems and VIN information.
- Prepare and process parts enquiries, quotes, orders and invoices accurately and efficiently.
- Source parts from suppliers and manufacturers where required and monitor order progress.
- Support the Service Department by ensuring required parts are identified, ordered and available when needed.
- Develop and maintain strong relationships with customers, suppliers and internal departments.
- Assist with stock control, including receiving, checking, labelling, storing and distributing parts.
- Monitor stock levels and assist with maintaining appropriate inventory levels to meet business requirements.
- Identify and manage backorders, special orders and parts availability issues.
- Assist with parts inventory management and minimise stock discrepancies and obsolescence.
- Identify opportunities to maximise parts sales while ensuring customer requirements are met.
- Maintain accurate records and ensure all parts transactions are processed in accordance with dealership procedures.
- Maintain a clean, organised and safe parts department and ensure workplace safety procedures are followed at all times.
What you’ll bring:
To be successful in this role, you will demonstrate:
- Previous experience as a Parts Interpreter, Parts Advisor or in a similar automotive parts role.
- Strong knowledge of automotive parts and the ability to accurately identify parts and applications.
- Excellent customer service and communication skills, with the ability to build strong relationships with customers and colleagues.
- Strong attention to detail and a high level of accuracy when processing parts enquiries, orders and transactions.
- Good organisational and time management skills, with the ability to prioritise competing demands in a fast-paced environment.
- Experience using automotive parts catalogues, dealer management systems or parts identification systems.
- Computer literacy, including proficiency in Microsoft Office (Word, Excel and Outlook).
- A proactive and solutions-focused approach to customer and parts enquiries.
- Commercial awareness and an understanding of the importance of parts sales, stock control and profitability.
- The ability to work effectively both independently and as part of a team.
- A professional, reliable and customer-focused approach.
- A genuine interest in the automotive industry and a willingness to develop product and technical knowledge.
- A current driver’s licence.
