Automotive Technician/Mechanic – South Yarra BMW (Full-Time)

South Yarra BMW, part of the award-winning, family-owned Jowett Motor Group, is looking for an experienced Automotive Technician/Mechanic to join our premium automotive team.

About the role

As an Automotive Technician/Mechanic, you’ll be responsible for delivering high-quality servicing, diagnostics, repairs and maintenance while maintaining the premium standards expected of South Yarra BMW and Jowett Motor Group. Working as part of our experienced workshop team, you’ll play a key role in ensuring vehicles are serviced and repaired to the highest standard and returned to customers in exceptional condition.

We offer 4-day rosters, with 38 hours worked across four days, providing an excellent work-life balance. Day and evening shifts are available, giving you flexibility to choose a roster that best suits your lifestyle.

Key responsibilities

• Carry out vehicle servicing, maintenance, diagnostics and mechanical repairs across BMW vehicles
• Diagnose mechanical and electrical faults using appropriate diagnostic equipment and manufacturer guidelines
• Complete scheduled servicing and inspections to a high standard
• Identify and communicate any additional repairs or maintenance requirements
• Ensure all work is completed efficiently and in line with BMW manufacturer standards and workshop expectations
• Maintain accurate job documentation and communicate effectively with the workshop and service teams
• Work efficiently to meet repair timelines while maintaining exceptional attention to detail and quality workmanship
• Follow all workplace health and safety procedures and maintain a clean, organised work area
• Collaborate with technicians, service advisors and other workshop team members to support a seamless customer experience

About you

You’ll bring:

• Proven experience as an Automotive Technician, Mechanic, or in a similar automotive trade role
• Relevant automotive qualifications and/or trade certification
• Strong diagnostic and mechanical skills, with a commitment to quality workmanship
• Experience servicing, maintaining and repairing vehicles to a high standard
• Strong attention to detail and the ability to identify and resolve mechanical issues effectively
• Ability to work independently while contributing positively to a collaborative team environment
• Strong problem-solving skills and a professional approach
• A passion for the automotive industry and delivering premium results
• A current driver’s licence and the ability to work within a fast-paced workshop environment
