The opportunity:
We are seeking a motivated and detail-oriented Graduate / Junior Accountant who will play a dual role within our organisation.
This position is designed for a recent accounting graduate who is eager to build technical accounting skills while also supporting general office administration and team operations.
The successful candidate will gain hands-on experience across a wide range of finance functions, including payroll and job costing, while also contributing to smooth day-to-day office activities.
Key Responsibilities
Accounting & Finance Duties
- Assist with accounts payable and accounts receivable processing.
- Support monthly reconciliations, journal entries, and financial reporting.
- Assist with job creation, job closing, and work-in-progress (WIP) management, including:
- Monitoring job costs and expenses against budgets.
- Reviewing and updating WIP schedules.
- Assisting in revenue recognition processes and adjustments.
- Supporting accurate reporting of project profitability.
- Maintain accurate financial records and assist with audit requirements.
- Contribute to end-of-month and end-of-year closing activities.
- Assist with payroll processing and related administrative tasks.
- Provide general support to the finance team on ad-hoc projects.
Office & Administrative Support
- Assist with general office administration, filing, and document management.
- Manage incoming calls, emails, and correspondence when required.
- Coordinate meeting arrangements.
- Support staff with office supplies, procurement, and vendor coordination.
- Assist with subcontractor onboarding documentation and ensure validity of compliance documents (e.g. licences, insurances, certifications).
- Provide support to management and other departments as needed.
Qualifications, Skills & Attributes:
- Bachelor’s degree in accounting, finance, or related discipline.
- Strong attention to detail and accuracy.
- Good organisational and time-management skills.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office (Excel, Word, Outlook).
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
- Ability to work collaboratively in a team environment.
- Willingness to learn and take on varied responsibilities.
