In your role as Business Development Manager, you will be responsible for driving commercial
growth through the proactive identification, qualification and development of new business opportunities aligned with Ingenuity’s strategic objectives. Operating at the front end of Ingenuity’s Sales Process, you will identify prospective clients, generate qualified Leads, develop commercial relationships and progress opportunities through qualification and Alignment Meetings. Your primary focus is the creation of a healthy, predictable pipeline of qualified opportunities that support sustainable revenue growth.
You will represent Ingenuity confidently within the market by initiating new conversations, strengthening our brand presence and positioning the organisation as a trusted partner in advanced technology product development. Through insightful questioning, commercial judgement and disciplined opportunity management, you will help prospective clients understand their challenges, define their objectives and determine whether Ingenuity is the right development partner.
Working closely with the Technical Sales Engineer, you will ensure qualified opportunities are
transitioned into technical discovery, solution development and proposal preparation with complete commercial context. You will remain commercially engaged throughout the sales process by supporting stakeholder engagement, maintaining client relationships and progressing opportunities through to a commercial outcome.
Success in this role is measured through disciplined business development activity, pipeline
quality, opportunity progression, forecast accuracy and contribution to Ingenuity’s revenue objectives.
Your key responsibilities are:
Business Development
- Identify and engage organisations aligned with Ingenuity’s Ideal Client Profile.
- Develop strategic relationships with executive, commercial and technical
decision-makers.
- Execute outbound business development activities including networking, referrals,
targeted outreach and industry engagement.
- Represent Ingenuity professionally at client meetings, networking events and industry
forums.
- Build long-term relationships that generate repeat business and referral
opportunities.
Lead & Opportunity Management
- Generate qualified Leads through proactive business development activities.
- Qualify Leads in accordance with Ingenuity’s Sales Process and Lead Qualification
criteria.
- Conduct Alignment Meetings to understand client objectives, commercial drivers and
project requirements.
- Progress qualified opportunities through the Sales Pipeline, maintaining clear ownership
of commercial next steps.
- Prioritise opportunities that align with Ingenuity’s strategic objectives and Ideal Client
Profile.
Pipeline Management
- Maintain a healthy pipeline of Current Opportunities and Future Opportunities.
- Ensure every Current Opportunity has a documented Next Action and agreed follow-up
activity.
- Maintain Salesforce as the single source of truth for all commercial activity.
- Ensure CRM records are accurate, complete and maintained in accordance with the CRM
Management Standard.
- Contribute to accurate sales forecasting through disciplined pipeline management.
Commercial Collaboration
- Partner with the Technical Sales Engineer to ensure qualified opportunities transition
seamlessly into technical discovery and proposal development.
- Provide complete commercial context, stakeholder insights and client objectives to
support technical solution development.
- Support proposal presentations, commercial discussions and opportunity progression
where required.
- Collaborate with Marketing to improve campaign effectiveness, lead quality and market
engagement.
Continuous Improvement
- Capture market intelligence, competitor activity and client feedback.
- Identify recurring client challenges and emerging market opportunities.
- Contribute to Weekly Commercial Insights and continuous improvement initiatives.
- Recommend improvements to sales processes, commercial tools and business development
effectiveness

- Working collaboratively with the Technical Sales Engineer to maximise proposal quality
and conversion.
- Supporting Marketing through market feedback, campaign insights and client intelligence.
- Building strong internal relationships across engineering and project delivery teams.

- Skill and Experience
The following skills and experience are required for this role:
- Be an Australian citizen, permanent resident or hold a working visa
- Hold a relevant engineering degree or equivalent technical qualification from a reputable institution
- Demonstrated success in new business development within complex B2B environments, preferably within engineering consultancy, advanced technology,
or technical services sectors
- Foundational understanding of the end-to-end product development lifecycle, from concept through to production
- Ability to confidently engage senior technical and commercial stakeholders
- Strong commercial acumen, with experience managing opportunity pipelines and working toward defined growth targets
- Excellent communication, presentation, and networking capability aligned with a premium professional brand

Location
Our Sydney office is located in the North Ryde technology area with convenient access by road and public transport.
We provide workplace flexibility by allowing staff to work from home for part of the week.
