Description

Infrastructure Engineer Adelaide, SA | Full-time

About us

We are an Adelaide-based organisation operating under a state government licence. Our technology team supports a large, distributed operational environment and is currently in an active period of infrastructure transformation and platform modernisation.

The role

You’ll be the hands-on engineer responsible for our on-premises, cloud, and network infrastructure across a multi-site environment. You’ll own infrastructure decisions, work through complex problems independently, and know when to escalate. This is not a helpdesk role.

What you’ll do

  • Administer and maintain server, virtualisation, storage, and backup infrastructure
  • Manage network infrastructure and security appliances across a large number of remote sites
  • Maintain Microsoft 365 and on-premises Active Directory environments
  • Respond to infrastructure incidents and drive root-cause resolution
  • Contribute to patching, change management, and documentation
  • Support cybersecurity controls and respond to audit and compliance requirements
  • Work alongside the Manager Systems and external vendors on project delivery

What we’re looking for

  • Solid hands-on experience with Windows Server and Active Directory
  • Virtualisation platform administration
  • Backup and recovery experience
  • Network firewall and WAN administration across multi-site environments
  • Microsoft 365 administration including Exchange Online, Teams, and Entra ID
  • Comfortable working in a regulated environment with documentation and change control disciplines
  • Strong troubleshooting instincts and the ability to work through problems methodically

Nice to have

  • Scripting skills (PowerShell, Python, or similar)
  • Familiarity with ITIL frameworks or formal change management processes
  • Experience in a regulated or compliance-heavy industry

Who suits this role

Someone who prefers solving real problems over ticket queues. You take ownership, communicate clearly when something’s wrong, and don’t wait to be told what to do. You’re comfortable working in a small team where your contribution is visible.

Why choose us

We’re a small, stable organisation with a technically interesting environment and real responsibility from day one. Our infrastructure underpins critical operational systems, so reliability and attention to detail matter.

Applications should include a current resume and a brief cover letter outlining your relevant experience.
