The Role

    • Provide trauma-informed care aligned with each young person’s plan
    • Build positive, trusting relationships
    • Apply de-escalation techniques and implement positive behaviour support strategies during crisis states involving aggression or sexualised conduct
    • Support daily routines, community activities, and life skills
    • Work across varied shifts, including sleepovers and weekends

What You Bring

    • Experience working with young people with trauma, high needs, or challenging behaviours.
    • Demonstrated ability to apply de-escalation techniques and implement positive behaviour support strategies during crisis states involving aggression or sexualised conduct
    • Understanding of trauma-informed and strengths-based practice
    • Skilled in self-regulation support, routines, and boundary-setting
    • A robust, neuro-affirming understanding of, and experience providing support across, a diverse range of intellectual, psychosocial, and physical disabilities
    • Proven cultural competence and ability to adapt support practices to respectfully meet the needs of people from diverse cultural and linguistic backgrounds (CALD)
    • Experience with personal care or communication tools (PECS/AAC)

    Essentials

    • Minimum Certificate IV in Community Services, Youth Work or similar (or studying)
    • TCI training preferred
    • WWCC, NDISWC, Police Check, First Aid, and driver’s licence

IMPORTANT INFORMATION

This role is open to Working Holiday Maker (417/462) visa holders.

Positions at Impact Care Solutions involve disability and therapeutic support services, which fall within the disability care critical sector. Under current Department of Home Affairs arrangements, this work may be exempt from the 6-month employment limitation, subject to the visa holder meeting all visa conditions and the role remaining within the scope of disability care. – Ongoing employment for WHM visa holders is subject to Department of Home Affairs requirements and operational needs.
