Description

We’re building aircraft that fly faster, further, and to space.

Hypersonix is an Australian aerospace engineering and advanced manufacturing company building hydrogen-powered scramjet aircraft. We work at the bleeding edge of hypersonic technology, delivering aircraft that fly faster, reach further, and open new pathways to space – and we’re a small, highly capable team doing work that genuinely matters.

The Opportunity

As Accounts Payable Manager, you’ll take ownership of our procure-to-pay and accounts payable functions, helping to build a best-practice finance function. From managing supplier relationships and payment governance to driving automation and process improvements, you’ll have the opportunity to make a visible impact across the business. Working alongside Procurement and Finance, you’ll help ensure our systems, controls and processes scale as we continue to grow.

This is a rare opportunity to join a company working with cutting-edge hypersonic technology, directly supporting operational delivery across the business. If you thrive in a fast-paced, scaling environment and want to be a part of our journey, we’d love to hear from you.

What you’ll be doing

Responsibilities include:

  • Lead the end-to-end accounts payable function, ensuring the accurate and timely processing of supplier invoices, expenses, corporate cards and payments.
  • Manage supplier relationships, vendor onboarding, payment runs and accounts payable ageing.
  • Drive compliance and financial controls across the procure-to-pay process, ensuring adherence to Delegations of Authority, purchase order requirements and governance standards.
  • Work closely with Procurement and budget holders to improve purchase-to-pay compliance, resolving supplier queries and payment disputes as required.
  • Assist in evaluating supplier payment terms and working capital opportunities.
  • Ensure compliance with procurement policies, financial controls and payment authorisation requirements.
  • Maintain strong financial controls and compliance across the accounts payable function, including GST requirements, BAS preparation, segregation of duties and audit support.
  • Prepare and maintain daily and month-end bank reconciliations.
  • Monitor cash movements, bank balances and transaction activity, supporting effective cash flow management and reporting.
  • Drive continuous improvement and automation of reconciliation processes within Microsoft Dynamics 365 Business Central.
  • Act as the designated backup for payroll processing to ensure continuity during periods of leave, absence or increased workload, maintaining sufficient knowledge of payroll systems, processes and legislative requirements.
  • Drive continuous improvement, automation and optimisation of the procure-to-pay process, leveraging Microsoft Dynamics 365 Business Central and other finance systems.

Life at Hypersonix

We’re a 70-person company moving fast in one of the most demanding fields in aerospace. The pace is fast, expectations are high and the environment is constantly evolving. The people who thrive here are energised by that — not unsettled by it.

To thrive here, you’ll need to embrace change, stay resilient, and bring a proactive, solutions-focused mindset. Priorities shift fast — you’ll need to adapt just as fast and genuinely enjoy the pace rather than just tolerate it. You’ll be part of a tight-knit team delivering bleeding-edge solutions under real deadline pressure, so strong problem-solving instincts and flexibility aren’t nice-to-haves — they’re how the work gets done.

What You’ll Bring

To hit the ground running in this role, you’ll need:

  • Certificate or diploma-level qualification in finance, accounting, business administration or a related field.
  • 5+ years accounts payable experience, with demonstrated experience managing accounts payable activities.
  • Exposure to payroll processing or payroll administration and the ability to provide payroll business continuity support when required.
  • Strong knowledge of financial controls, delegations, taxation requirements and compliance within a transaction processing environment.
  • Strong attention to detail and a commitment to accuracy.
  • Advanced proficiency in Microsoft Excel and financial systems.
  • Excellent communication and stakeholder management skills.
  • Proven ability to prioritise competing deadlines, manage escalations and deliver high-quality outcomes in a fast-paced environment.
  • Ability to pass any applicable security clearance or background checks.
  • Right to live and work in Australia.

Bonus points for…

  • Industry experience in aerospace, engineering and/or manufacturing.
  • Microsoft Dynamics 365 Business Central and Employment Hero or similar software experience.
  • Experience supporting rapid organisational growth or scale-up environments.
  • Experience implementing finance process improvements and automation initiatives.
