Hutt St Centre’s vision is an end to homelessness. Our mission is to advocate with and empower people at risk of or experiencing homelessness, supporting them to rebuild their lives on their journey to homefulness.
How you will make a difference
Deliver flexible, responsive and person-centred therapeutic occupational therapy services to older people with a disability and/or aged-related issues who are experiencing, or at risk of, homelessness. The OT program is a part of Hutt St Centre’s Aged City Living team and will focus on meeting the immediate needs of people experiencing homelessness who often experience disproportionate barriers to accessing aged care, health and other related supports and services.
The OT will work with clients whose abilities impact them achieving their independent living goals, access services and/or be included in their communities. Whilst facilitating clients to meet their short-term therapeutic goals, the OT will also seek to connect clients with long-term aged care supports to assist them to continue to build their individual capacities beyond their experience of homelessness.
This position will be offered on a part-time contract basis until 30 June 2027.
About you
We are seeking applications from experienced Occupational Therapists with a deep understanding of client care practices. Your ability to engage with elderly clients in a non-judgmental, client-centred way and align with HSC’s values is essential.
Essential for the role
- A passion for creating positive change in the lives of people experiencing disadvantage.
- Strong communication, relationship-building and advocacy skills.
- A recognised degree or qualification that enables registration as an Occupational Therapist with the Australian Health Practitioner Regulation Agency (AHPRA).
- National Police Clearance and Working with Children Check (or willingness to obtain).
- A current unrestricted driver’s licence.
