HOTA, Home of the Arts Precinct
This role will be based at HOTA, Home of the Arts. HOTA is an iconic Gold Coast destination where art, entertainment, culture and lifestyle meet. A place that locals love and visitors must-see. HOTA offers a diverse suite of venues and facilities, including a gallery, outdoor stage, indoor theatres and cinemas, function and events rooms, as well as a range of food and beverage venues including the HOTA Café, the rooftop Exhibitionist Bar and three hat Palette Restaurant.
At the heart of HOTA’s identity is a rich and diverse program: live music, theatre, dance, comedy, film, visual art exhibitions, children’s shows, community workshops, and festivals – all taking place across the array of venues.
The Position
As a Food and Beverage Attendant, you play a key role in delivering exceptional dining experiences and contributing to the success of the Precinct Food and Beverage offering across its many and varied food outlets, functions and programmed events in the HOTA Precinct.
You will provide friendly and professional service to guests, ensuring their needs are met with efficiency and enthusiasm. Your responsibilities will include taking orders, serving food and beverages, assisting with the setup, delivery and pack down of events/functions and maintaining cleanliness and organisation in your work area.
Key Responsibilities
- Work across our diverse Culinary outlets as required, including The HOTA Cafe, The Exhibitionist Bar & Palette Restaurant.
- Deliver exceptional client service, ensuring all expectations are met while adhering to legislative and compliance requirements.
- Set up and pack down events and functions, ensuring all areas are prepared and restored to standards.
- Coordinate with the kitchen regarding product availability, additional meal requirements, allergies, dietary preferences, and special requests.
- Maintain cleanliness and organisation of work areas, including dishes, glassware, and equipment, throughout the day.
- Perform opening and closing duties, such as restocking supplies and preparing work areas for the next shift.
- Monitor and manage stock levels, ensuring proper control, rotation, and replenishment as needed.
- Handle customer inquiries, complaints, and feedback promptly and professionally, aiming to achieve effective resolutions and escalate to management as necessary.
- Adhere to hygiene and cleanliness standards, ensuring compliance with health and safety regulations.
- Ensure security of beverage stock on the premises and reconcile takings and inventory in line with operational procedures.
- Ensure all activities comply with organisational and departmental Occupational Health & Safety (OH&S) policies and guidelines.
- Perform additional duties within the scope of your role, as directed by Culinary Arts Supervisors and Managers, contributing to the team’s success.
Qualifications and Experience
- Prior food and beverage experience
- Food and beverage knowledge and a la carte experience an advantage
- Demonstrated practical experience in a restaurant or café desirable
- Barista experience desirable
- Superior customer service
- Ability to use own initiative and work under pressure
- Impeccable personal presentation
- Team player
- Ability to work shifts including weekends and public holidays
- Own reliable transport and current driver’s license essential
- Responsible Service of Alcohol
- Food handling desirable
