Community Programs Manager

The Opportunity
We are seeking an
enthusiastic, organised and community-focused Community Programs Manager to
join our growing Community team.
Reporting to the
Head of Operations & Community, this role is responsible for the day-to-day
coordination and delivery of Hoops Capital community programs, school
engagement initiatives and grant-funded projects.
This is a
hands-on role that combines program facilitation, relationship management,
logistics, administration and impact reporting. You will work directly with
schools, young people, community organisations, government partners and
internal departments to ensure every program is delivered professionally,
safely and with lasting impact.
Working closely
with the Head of Operations & Community, you will help turn strategy into
action by coordinating programs from planning through to delivery and
evaluation.
Key Responsibilities
Grant-Funded
Program Coordination
- Coordinate the delivery of grant-funded
community program, ensuring milestones and deliverables are achieved on time.
- Maintain accurate participant records,
demographic information and attendance data.
- Assist in preparing grant reports, funding
acquittals and impact documentation.
- Ensure programs are inclusive, culturally
responsive and accessible for priority cohorts including:
- Women and girls
- First Nations communities
- Culturally and linguistically diverse
communities
- New migrant communities
- People living with disability
- Ensure compliance with Child Safe Standards and
Hoops Capital policies.
- Support risk assessments and program planning
documentation.
Youth Engagement
& Facilitation
- Deliver engaging group workshops for students
aged approximately 12 to 18 years.
- Facilitate discussions around resilience,
identity, confidence, leadership, teamwork and future pathways.
- Use basketball as a tool for engagement and
positive youth development.
- Create safe, inclusive and culturally responsive
learning environments.
- Build trusted relationships with participants
and encourage ongoing engagement.
Events &
Community Activation
- Support planning and delivery of Gala Days,
community festivals, school events and special activations.
- Coordinate community activities connected with
Sydney Kings and Sydney Flames home games.
- Represent Hoops Capital at community events,
stakeholder meetings and information sessions.
- Support ambassador and athlete involvement in
community initiatives.
Monitoring,
Evaluation & Reporting
- Collect participation, attendance and
demographic data.
- Maintain high-quality reporting systems and
databases.
- Measure program outcomes and participant impact.
- Gather feedback from schools, students and
community partners.
- Contribute to continuous improvement
initiatives.
- Support preparation of impact reports for
government, funding partners and organisational reporting.

organised, enjoy building relationships and thrive in a role that combines
planning, facilitation and hands-on delivery.
Essential Skills & Experience
- Accredited basketball coach.
- Experience coordinating or delivering programs
within education, community, youth, recreation or sport.
- Demonstrated experience working with young
people.
- Strong facilitation and presentation skills.
- Excellent interpersonal and relationship
management skills.
- Highly organised with strong administration and
project coordination capabilities.
- Ability to manage multiple priorities across
several locations.
- Strong written and verbal communication skills.
- Experience using Microsoft Office and database
systems.
- Ability to work independently while contributing
to a collaborative team environment.
- Qualifications in Education, Youth Work,
Community Development, Sport Management, Social Work or a related discipline.
Desirable Experience
- Experience in sport development or physical
activity delivery.
- Experience delivering school-based programs.
- Experience working with culturally diverse
communities including Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples, Pacific
Islander and South Sudanese communities.
- Experience coordinating grant-funded programs.
- Knowledge of youth development, trauma-informed
practice or positive psychology.
- Experience supervising volunteers or placement
students.
- Mental Health First Aid qualification.
Essential Requirements
- Current NSW Working with Children Check (or
ability to obtain).
- Current unrestricted driver’s licence and access
to reliable transport.
- Willingness to travel across Greater Sydney.
- Flexibility to occasionally work evenings and
weekends for community events.
Working Arrangements
The Sydney Kings
(NBL) and Sydney Flames (WNBL) seasons run from September to April. This period
represents the peak operational window for the business and is generally a
block-out period for annual leave. The role may require flexibility to work
evenings and weekends to support game day operations and other scheduled events
during season. Reasonable additional hours may be required during peak periods,
including game days, events, campaign launches, major announcements and other
business-critical activities. A Time Off in Lieu (TOIL) policy applies to
approved additional hours worked.
