Role Purpose

The Business Development Representative, Sydney Flames is a dedicated Flames sales role responsible for driving ticket sales revenue, growing attendance, and supporting premium seating and membership sales across the Sydney Flames WNBL season.

The BDR owns day to day Flames sales activity across single match, group, family, community, membership and premium audiences, and is the on the ground commercial presence for the Flames fan base, partner network and game day experience. Working closely with the Business Development Manager, Premium Ticketing and the Head of Ticketing & Membership Growth, the BDR contributes to pricing, product and campaign decisions that shape how the Flames go to market.

Profile We’re Looking For

A driven, relationship led BDR with a min of 1 years’ experience in a sales role in events, ticketing, partnerships or commercial roles, ideally in sport, entertainment or membership based businesses. Someone who is passionate about women’s sport, energised by hitting targets, and creative about finding new ways to fill seats and grow the Flames community.

Key Accountabilities

Ticket Sales & Attendance Growth

  • Drive Sydney Flames ticket sales revenue and attendance targets across the WNBL season
  • Generate single match, group, family and community ticket sales through proactive outbound activity, grassroots networks and partnership channels
  • Build and execute a Flames specific outbound plan covering schools, basketball associations, women in sport networks, community groups, corporates and family audiences
  • Identify and convert new audience segments to grow the Flames fan base and lift average attendance per home game
  • Use ticketing and CRM data to identify lapsed buyers, prioritise outbound activity and report weekly on pipeline and conversion

Premium Seating & Memberships

  • Sell Flames premium seating, corporate experiences and memberships to new and existing clients
  • Manage day to day Flames premium client relationships, including renewals, upgrades and game day hospitality
  • Work with the Business Development Manager, Premium Ticketing and the Head of Ticketing & Membership Growth on premium product development, pricing and positioning specific to the Flames audience

Game Day & Client Experience

  • Be the visible, on the ground commercial presence for the Sydney Flames at home games
  • Order catering for the Flames Lounge and assist with set up of the Flames Lounge and surrounding areas.
  • Deliver a high-quality game day experience for premium clients, members, group buyers and corporate guests
  • Capture client feedback and feed insights back into product, marketing and game day planning

Marketing, CRM & Reporting

  • Partner with Marketing on Flames demand generation campaigns, ticket offers and conversion tactics
  • Maintain accurate CRM records of all leads, conversations and client activity
  • Provide weekly sales reporting to the Business Development Manager, Premium Ticketing on Flames pipeline, revenue and forecast

Wider Support

Approximately 10% of the role provides administrative and sales support to the Business Development Manager, Premium Ticketing across both Sydney Kings and Sydney Flames, including CRM data entry, lead list building, car parking allocations client correspondence and game day logistics.

What Success Looks Like

  • Sydney Flames ticket revenue and attendance targets are met or exceeded
  • Flames premium seating and membership inventory is well sold and well retained
  • There is a healthy, growing pipeline of Flames specific community, group and corporate prospects.
  • Flames members and game attendees consistently report a high-quality game day and service experience.
  • CRM and reporting on Flames sales activity is accurate, current and trusted

Skills & Experience

  • 1+ years of sales experience is essential in a BDR, events, ticketing, membership or partnership’s role.
  • Genuine passion for women’s sport and a strong interest in basketball and the Flames brand.
  • Track record of meeting or exceeding sales targets
  • Confident, professional communicator across phone, email, in person and game day environments.
  • Strong relationship building skills with both corporate clients and grassroots community contacts.
  • Proficient with CRM and ticketing platforms, or a fast learner
  • Available to work evenings, weekends and Sydney Flames home games during the WNBL season.

 

Working Arrangements

The Sydney Kings (NBL) and Sydney Flames (WNBL) seasons run from September to April. This period represents the peak operational window for the business and is generally a block-out period for annual leave. The role requires flexibility to work evenings and weekends to support game day operations and other scheduled events during season. A Time Off in Lieu (TOIL) policy applies to additional hours worked on game days.
