About Us

Hello Clever is building the next generation of payments infrastructure by turning every transaction into growth for merchants. We’re an AI-powered fintech operating across 22+ markets, helping businesses move money in real time and convert payments into measurable outcomes like higher repeat rates, bigger baskets, and smarter customer engagement. Our platform combines local account-to-account rails, embedded cashback & loyalty products, and powerful data intelligence (Clever AI) so merchants can launch offers, optimise ROI, and scale faster – all through a single integration.

We’ve been named Australia’s fastest-growing fintech, listed in Top 100 Forbes Asia and the AFR Fastest-Growing Companies, and selected for Inc. Magazine’s Best in Business.

Role Focus

This is a Mid/Senior Frontend Engineering role focused on building and evolving production-grade React web applications, with React and TypeScript as the core technologies. You will own frontend architecture and help shape engineering standards across the products you work on.

This is a full-time, hybrid role based in Ho Chi Minh City, with occasional in-person catch-ups at our office and no fixed office days. You will work Vietnam business hours, with availability to join regular meetings with our US team outside those hours.

Responsibilities

  • Design, build, and maintain accessible, responsive React experiences across our payment, merchant, dynamic checkout and internal operations products.
  • Own frontend architecture across the codebase, including application structure, state management, data flow, component boundaries, API integration, and dependencies. Surface architectural, performance, and reliability risks early.
  • Establish reusable patterns, shared components, and engineering standards across products and teams.
  • Act as the technical point of contact for frontend decisions with US-based stakeholders, and raise the quality bar through code review, pairing, and guidance.
  • Implement complex flows involving payments, multi-currency experiences, asynchronous states, retries, failures, validations, and edge cases.
  • Improve performance, reliability, accessibility, security, and maintainability across the frontend codebase.
  • Investigate production issues, support root-cause analysis, and help prevent recurring problems.

Requirements (Must Have)

  • 3+ years of frontend engineering experience, with proven ownership of production-grade React applications shipped end to end.
  • Strong hands-on experience with React and TypeScript, plus solid fundamentals in JavaScript, HTML, CSS, browser APIs, responsive layouts, and accessibility.
  • Strong understanding of frontend architecture, covering component design, state management, data flow, API integration, and application structure, with the judgment to balance trade-offs and evolve existing systems without unnecessary complexity.
  • Experience acting as a technical anchor on a team: driving architecture decisions, establishing reusable patterns and standards, and lifting code quality through review and guidance.
  • Experience integrating with REST APIs, strong debugging skills using browser DevTools and performance tooling, and a good understanding of unit, integration, and end-to-end testing.
  • Clear written and verbal English communication, with the ability to work independently across distributed teams.
  • Available to New York hours (maximum 15 hours per week EDT (GMT-4))
  • Available to join regular meetings with our US team outside Vietnam business hours

Nice to Have

  • Experience with Next.js or similar ReactJS frameworks.
  • Experience building or maintaining design systems and reusable component libraries.
  • Payment, fintech, banking, marketplace, or e-commerce experience, including PCI-aware frontend practices.
  • Experience with Playwright, Cypress, Jest, React Testing Library, or similar testing tools.
  • Experience with React Native or mobile-first product development.
  • A disciplined approach to AI-assisted development, using tools like Cursor, Claude Code, or GitHub Copilot without letting review standards slip.
