The Role

The Director of Technology will lead technical direction, architecture and engineering capability in Vietnam. Vietnam is a major technology hub for Hello Clever. The team builds global products for the markets we operate in today and the platform capabilities we need for the countries and payment networks we enter next. You will work closely with the CTO, Head of Product and Engineering/Delivery Leads to turn product, customer and market priorities into systems that are secure, scalable and built to last. The Head of Product owns product direction and roadmap priorities. Engineering/Delivery Leads own day-to-day execution, team capacity and delivery. The Director of Technology owns technical direction, architecture, standards and the long-term platform capabilities behind the product. This is a hands-on leadership role for someone with strong technical judgement and deep experience in payments, fintech and AI. You will stay close to major architecture decisions, platform risks, technical quality and the systems that underpin Hello Clever’s growth.

What You Will Own

1. Technology strategy: Partner with the CTO to shape and execute Hello Clever’s technology strategy across payments, payouts, treasury, data and AI, translating business and product priorities into technical direction and platform capabilities.
2. Technology leadership: Build Vietnam into a global technology hub capable of owning major products and platform domains end to end. Establish strong architecture and engineering standards, and develop senior technical leaders across the team.
3. Platform architecture: Lead the architecture and evolution of our core payment, settlement, reconciliation and treasury platforms, including cards and acquiring, alternative payment methods, account-to-account and real-time payments, local payment rails and AI-enabled capabilities.
4. Partner integrations: Work closely with the Partnerships team and lead the technical side of integrations with payment providers, banks, card schemes and other financial infrastructure partners, from technical design and due diligence through to launch.
5. Global scale: Ensure our technology can expand into new markets, currencies, payment methods, partners and regulatory environments while keeping the platform scalable, reusable and maintainable.
6. Technical excellence: Drive architecture, security, reliability and technical quality across the platform. Partner with Security, Compliance, Product and Engineering/Delivery teams to meet requirements including PCI DSS, SOC 2, ISO 27001 and data residency across multiple jurisdictions.

What We Are Looking For

1. 5-8 years of senior technology leadership experience in fintech, payments, banking or financial infrastructure, with a strong background in software engineering, architecture or platform engineering.
2. Deep understanding of payment architecture and ecosystems, including cards and acquiring, alternative payment methods, real-time and account-to-account payments, local rails, orchestration, settlement, reconciliation, disputes and failure recovery.
3. Experience building and operating secure, highly available financial products and platforms across multiple markets, currencies and regulatory environments.
4. Strong experience with cloud architecture, preferably Microsoft Azure, including distributed systems, APIs, event-driven architecture, data platforms, security, resilience and scalability.
5. Practical experience applying AI and machine learning in production environments, including building or integrating AI-enabled products and platform capabilities.
6. Strong judgement across architecture, security, reliability and technical risk, with the ability to balance long-term platform investment with immediate commercial and delivery priorities.
7. Proven ability to work across Product, Engineering, Partnerships and executive teams, develop senior technical leaders and build strong engineering capability. Professional or native-level fluency in English.
