The opportunity:

HDI Global is seeking a talented Senior Risk Engineer for our market leading Risk Engineering practice – HDI Risk Consulting (HRC). This role will focus on the CONSTRUCTION Sector.

HRC has a track record servicing wide-ranging and diverse market sectors. You can expect to provide risk consulting services to landmark, high profile projects/clients covering mixed-use Building developments, Civil Infrastructure, Industrial, Power Infrastructure, Chemical, with a predominant focus on the Construction risk. The role requires the successful candidates to travel approximately 50 days per year predominantly within Australia and New Zealand.

  • HRC cover a range of construction projects including transport infrastructure, tunnelling, large residential complexes, large warehousing and manufacturing sites, mining operations, power generation and renewable energy projects.
  • HRC assessment elements include but are not limited to:
  • Fire / explosion risks.
  • Geotechnical risks.
  • Machinery breakdown risks.
  • Natural Catastrophe risks.
  • Business interruption risks.

You should have strong experience or interest in the following areas: 

  • Loss prevention engineering/consultancy services.
  • Evaluation and subsequent risk reporting of construction site and property hazards.
  • Identifying and quantifying exposures at industrial properties.
  • Assessing adequacy & operational functionality of protection systems.
  • Evaluating client’s in-house loss prevention program.
  • Consulting with client’s senior management to reduce fire risks.
  • Risk report tabulation for the underwriters prior to insurance renewal. 
  • Desktop review of insurance submissions and risk reports for underwriting purposes. 
  • Conducting loss prevention seminars to create awareness for client.
  • Manage risk engineering fees, costs and payments.

The position is ideally based in either our Sydney, Melbourne or Brisbane offices, however we encourage applications from risk engineers across Australia.

About you

  • Bachelor’s degree in Civil Engineering preferred.
  • 10+ years of experience in Construction.
  • Construction Risk Engineering experience preferred. 
  • Excellent organisational and project management skills. 
  • Strong written/verbal communication skills. 
  • Proven experience in technical report writing and delivering technical presentations, with the ability to communicate and engage with non-technical audiences. 
  • Highly motivated, proactive, and willing to take on new challenges. 
  • Ability to develop and maintain successful client relationships. 
  • Australian Citizenship or Permanent residency required.
