Claims Adjuster – Motor

 

Are you an experienced claims professional looking to make a meaningful impact within a respected global insurer? We are seeking a Claims Adjuster to manage a varied portfolio of claims across our Motor line of business. In this role, you will play a vital role in managing commercial claims from notification to finalisation. You will be responsible for delivering high quality service to clients and brokers, ensuring claims are managed efficiently, transparently and in line with HDI’s standards and compliance requirements.

 

This opportunity can be based in our Sydney or Melbourne offices. We support hybrid working, with three days in the office and two days working from home each week.

 

PLEASE NOTE: this is a 16 month, fixed-term, full-time maternity leave cover.

 

What you will do:

  • Assess claims over TPA and Agencies delegated authority
  • Provide recommendation and approvals on claim referrals received from TPA’s and agencies
  • Act as a key escalation point for brokers, clients, TPAs, underwriters and service providers.
  • Review and approve monthly invoices submitted by Third Party Administrators and delegated claims providers.
  • Validate charges against Claims Handling Agreements, delegated authority arrangements and agreed fee schedules.
  • Monitor claim handling costs and service provider expenses to ensure accuracy and contractual compliance
  • Ensure accurate allocation of claim handling costs and vendor charges to client accounts.
  • Determine liability and assess indemnity based on policy wordings and factual investigation.
  • Engage and collaborate with brokers, clients, assessors and repairers to achieve timely resolution.
  • Liaise with underwriters regarding claims development and trends.
  • Ensure claims are processed in accordance with HDI claims guidelines, reserving philosophy and regulatory standards.
  • Accurately maintain claims data and documentation in internal systems to support reporting and audit readiness.
  • Identify and escalate claims, legal issues or potential large losses to the Team Lead and/or Claims Manager.
  • Contribute to continuous improvement initiatives.

What you will bring:

 

  • Knowledge of motor claims, together with relevant Australian regulatory requirements.
  • At least 2 years’ experience in a claims role within a commercial environment.
  • Exposure to commercial clients and fleet policies.
  • Strong understanding of insurance policy interpretation, liability assessment and motor claims legislation.
  • Experience handling claims for commercial clients under managed service models, including those where an Aggregate deductible arrangement applies is considered an advantage.
  • Competency in Excel, Microsoft Word and Outlook.
  • Clear verbal and written communication skills, with the confidence to engage professionally with brokers, claimants and internal stakeholders.
  • A collaborative approach, with the ability to work both independently and as part of a team.
  • Strong organisational skills and the ability to manage competing priorities effectively.
