Duties
Summary
Assist in the day to day operation of the marine underwriting team and support to the Underwriting
Manager Marine, Western Region with day to day activities as required.
Specific
Underwriting
-Contribute to a profitable portfolio of business by developing an understanding of
underwriting principals and disciplines through discussions and research.
Assist in the growth objectives of the portfolio by identifying opportunities
and performing delegated tasks.
-Conduct initial review of new business and renewal submissions.
-Identify referral triggers according to HDI Global Underwriting Guidelines and local branch
underwriting authority.
-Review of policy wordings.
– Assist in the recording of technical premium levels for active portfolio.
-Assist with calculations for underwriting new business and renewals through the premium
rating systems, performing the initial rating for all accounts.
-Identify opportunities for growth through existing portfolio and by assisting Underwriting Manager
Marine, Western Region with the LOB pipeline.
-Develop an underwriting rationale with recommendation to the Underwriting Manager Marine, Western
Region
-Operate within the delegated underwriting license and underwriting guidelines.
Marketing
-To contribute to the positive promotion of the HDI Global SE, Australia brand,
provide feedback for internal purposes as well as building relationship and
networks in the local insurance market.
-Build and maintain relationships with key intermediaries and customers.
-Communicate market information with LOB managers.
Administration
-To contribute to the performance of the Marine team through ensuring compliant and
clear processes are adhered to in a consistent manner.
-Issue policy documentation.
-Issue of premium certificates, if requested.
-Issue endorsements.
-Carry out premium calculations.
-Assist in the monitoring of all outstanding quotations and pending renewals, tracking and
updating progress via the maintenance of renewal register and quotation
register.
-Create and maintain the electronic filing system and ensure all necessary documentation is saved as per the marine guidelines.
-Follow up outstanding closings in a timely manner to ensure that premiums are processed within agreed terms.
Salary will range from $80k-$95k excl. super.
