THE ROLE

As a Senior Structural Engineer based in our Darwin office, you will play a key role in delivering high-quality engineering solutions across a diverse range of projects. Working as part of a collaborative national team, you will provide technical leadership, build strong client relationships and contribute to the continued growth and success of our business.

Key responsibilities include:

  • Delivering structural engineering design and consulting services across a range of building and infrastructure projects
  • Leading the design and documentation of steel, reinforced concrete, masonry and timber structures
  • Undertaking site inspections, structural assessments, investigations and technical reporting
  • Providing technical leadership, mentoring, and guidance to graduate and developing engineers
  • Collaborating with multidisciplinary teams to achieve successful project outcomes and high-quality deliverables
  • Building and maintaining strong relationships with clients, stakeholders and project partners
  • Identifying opportunities to support business development
  • Contributing to technical excellence, innovation and continuous improvement initiatives across the structural engineering team
  • Participating in peer reviews and quality assurance processes to maintain high engineering standards
  • Supporting knowledge sharing, capability development and a positive team culture across the broader business
  • Maintaining a commitment to ongoing professional development and staying current with industry trends, standards and best practice

OUR IDEAL CANDIDATE

To be successful in this role, you will bring:

  • Extensive experience in structural engineering design and project delivery – ideally with 10+ years experience within an Australian consulting or local government environment
  • Chartered or Registered Professional Engineer status, with the ability to certify structural engineering designs in accordance with relevant legislation and industry requirements
  • Demonstrated experience delivering structural solutions across buildings, infrastructure, retaining structures, foundations, and associated systems
  • Strong working knowledge of Australian Standards, the National Construction Code (NCC) and relevant local authority requirements
  • Proven ability to prepare and review structural designs, calculations, specifications, reports, drawings, cost estimates and construction documentation with a high degree of technical accuracy
  • Advanced capability in structural analysis, design and documentation software, such as SPACE GASS
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to convey technical information clearly to both technical and non-technical stakeholders
  • Experience undertaking site inspections, structural assessments, construction-phase services, testing verification and quality assurance activities
  • Strong organisational and project management skills, with the ability to effectively manage competing priorities and deliver quality outcomes
  • Demonstrated ability to work independently while contributing positively within multidisciplinary project teams
  • Well-developed stakeholder engagement and relationship management skills, with experience collaborating with clients, architects, contractors, government authorities and other engineering disciplines
  • A proactive, solutions-focused mindset, supported by sound engineering judgement, commercial awareness and a commitment to continuous improvement

The following qualifications, skills and experience will be highly regarded:

  • Experience delivering projects across a variety of sectors, including commercial, residential, industrial, infrastructure, education, health, Defence or government projects
  • Experience in project leadership, client management, and mentoring developing engineers
  • The ability and willingness to undertake site travel, including regional and remote locations where required
