Harbison is a charitable, community-owned, not-for-profit organisation that provides a range of care and support services, including aged care, disability support, and retirement living. Harbison is also the parent organisation of Harbison Early Learning, which offers high-quality childcare services, including Out of School Hours Care (OOSHC), as part of its intergenerational programs.

While Harbison employs the Early Childhood Educator directly, the role involves a secondment arrangement with Harbison Early Learning to deliver childcare services. This unique structure allows Harbison to support the operations of its subsidiary while fostering meaningful connections between children and aged care residents through intergenerational programs.

Primary Purpose of the Role

To support the planning, preparation and delivery of engaging, inclusive and developmentally appropriate playgroup and early learning experiences for children and their families. The role works collaboratively with the Early Learning team to facilitate regular playgroup sessions, fostering positive relationships with children, families, educators and Harbison residents.

The role includes supporting the implementation of planned activities and experiences, encouraging children’s participation and development, and contributing to intergenerational engagement between children, families and residents.

The role also assists with the day-to-day preparation and set-up of playgroup activities, maintaining a safe and engaging learning environment, and supporting the delivery of a program that reflects the needs, interests and developmental stages of the children and families who participate.

To successfully progress with your application, you must be available to work the below hours / days:

9:00 am – 12:00 pm / Tuesday, Thursday and Friday’s

Key Accountabilities

  • Support lead educator in delivering a high quality, play based learning environment.
  • Ensure the health, safety and emotional wellbeing of children.
  • Contribute to planning based on current interests of the group, implement daily routines and maintain active supervision of activities and experiences
  • Maintain a clean and safe environment
  • Welcome all stakeholders to the program in a friendly manner, actively engage in conversations and experiences with all key stakeholders and support parents and caregivers
  • Support residents when engaging with the program
  • Uphold any regulatory framework requirements, ensure child safe practices are upheld and are paramount at any time.

  • Foundations of Child Safety Training
  • Certificate III in Early Childhood Education and Care or willingness to obtain.
