THE ROLE

An exciting opportunity is available for an experienced Timber Systems Designer (Detailer) to join the team at Hallett Group. In this role, you will apply both manual and computer-aided methods to generate accurate costings and designs that support clients in the successful delivery of their construction projects. Proficiency with engineering design software such as Pryda, MiTek, and Multinail will be essential and second nature to you.

You bring strong attention to detail, excellent time management, and clear communication skills. As a key point of contact, you’ll collaborate with both internal teams and external stakeholders, consistently demonstrating your ability to build strong professional relationships and deliver exceptional service.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES & RESPONSIBILTIES

  • Generate detailed roof trusses, floor systems, and timber frames plans using CAD software (e.g., Pryda, MiTek, Multinail, or equivalent)
  • Interpret architectural and structural plans to create accurate fabrication drawings
  • Work closely with builders, architects, engineers, and production teams
  • Conduct quality checks to ensure designs comply with industry standards, building codes, and client requirements.
  • Modify designs as needed based on feedback from clients, engineers, or production staff.

QUALIFICATIONS | EXPERIENCE | CAPABILITIES

  • Formal qualification in Building Design, Engineering, Construction, or a related field
  • 3 years’ experience in timber detailing/design
  • Proficiency with timber design software such as Pryda (preferred), Mitek, Multinail or similar platforms
  • 3 years’ experience with Australian timber framing standards
  • Strong understanding of construction methods, timber structures, and relevant building codes
  • Ability to read and interpret architectural and structural drawings
  • Excellent attention to detail and a high level of accuracy
  • Good communication skills and the ability to work both independently and in a team environment
