Due to significant increase in our project work in Darwin, we are currently seeking, for an immediate start, an experienced, highly organised and detail-oriented Project Manager to oversee a major defence project, on a fixed term 18 month contract, with the possibility of extension.
About the Role
Reporting to the General Manager, and as part of the management team, in this position you will be responsible for overseeing the delivery of one of our key projects and ensuring project timelines and defence compliance requirements are met.
Key Responsibilities
- Plan, coordinate and oversee concrete production activities to ensure project milestones and delivery schedules are achieved.
- Liaise with clients, site personnel, subcontractors and internal stakeholders to ensure effective project delivery.
- Manage project resources including labour, plant, equipment, materials and logistics.
- Ensure concrete products are manufactured in accordance with approved mix designs, project specifications and relevant Australian Standards.
- Oversee batching plant operations, equipment calibration and maintenance programs to maintain operational efficiency and quality outcomes.
- Lead quality assurance and quality control processes, including inspections, testing, compliance monitoring and management of quality records.
- Investigate non-conformances, implement corrective actions and drive continuous improvement initiatives.
- Promote and maintain a strong safety culture, ensuring compliance with workplace health and safety requirements, site procedures and permit systems.
- Monitor high-risk activities involving mobile plant, heavy vehicles and other operational hazards.
- Conduct incident investigations and implement corrective and preventative actions where required.
- Ensure compliance with defence and security requirements, including personnel clearances, site access protocols and protection of sensitive project information.
- Coordinate project activities to minimise disruption to client operations and ensure all subcontractors comply with site-specific requirements.
- Assist with project reporting, forecasting, budgeting and commercial performance monitoring.
- Act as the primary point of contact for clients and contractors, providing regular project updates and resolving operational issues.
- Prepare and maintain project documentation, including production records, test reports, inspection records and performance reports.
- Monitor and report on key performance indicators including production output, quality compliance, safety performance and project progress.
- Lead, mentor and support plant operators and personnel to achieve project objectives.
- Set clear performance expectations, foster accountability and drive a high-performing team culture.
What We Are Looking For
- Demonstrated experience in Project Management or similar role within construction, concrete, or related industry.
- Strong understanding of concrete production, batching operations, quality control and testing requirements would be highly regarded.
- Proven ability to manage project programs, resources, budgets and project delivery outcomes.
- Strong understanding of work health and safety legislation and risk management principles.
- Excellent leadership, communication and problem-solving skills.
- NT Construction Industry White Card
- Current and valid NT Heavy Rigid Drivers Licence
- Willingness to undertake a pre-employment medical, including drug and alcohol screening
- Applicants must be eligible to obtain and maintain an Australian Government Defence Security Clearance (DCAC)
