Description

Hakka Foods is one of Australia’s leading manufacturers of Asian food products, supplying trusted brands to major retailers, foodservice providers, and distributors nationwide. Due to continued growth, we are seeking an experienced Mechanical Fitter to join our Maintenance team.

This hands-on role is responsible for maintaining, troubleshooting, repairing and improving production equipment across our manufacturing operations to maximise plant reliability, safety and efficiency.

Responsibilities:

Reporting directly to the Facilities & Maintenance Supervisor, you will be responsible for but not limited to:

  • Perform preventative and breakdown maintenance on production equipment
  • Diagnose and repair mechanical faults to minimise downtime
  • Assemble, install, test and maintain machinery, equipment and components
  • Modify machine parts and equipment as required
  • Conduct inspections to identify wear, defects and potential hazards
  • Work with pumps, motors, gearboxes, conveyors, pneumatic and hydraulic systems
  • Complete maintenance records accurately and on time through maintenance systems
  • Assist with continuous improvement initiatives to improve equipment reliability
  • Ensure all work is completed in accordance with HACCP, GMP and WHS requirements
  • Maintain a safe, clean and organised work environment
  • Collaborate with production and maintenance teams to achieve operational targets

Qualifications:

To be successful in this role, you will have:

  • Trade qualifications as a Fitter & Turner, Mechanical Fitter or equivalent
  • Minimum 3 years’ experience in a maintenance or mechanical fitting role
  • Strong fault-finding and troubleshooting capability
  • Experience with preventative maintenance programs
  • Knowledge of pumps, motors, gearboxes, bearings, pneumatics and hydraulics
  • Basic welding skills (TIG and MIG preferred)
  • Machining experience using lathes and milling machines highly regarded
  • FMCG, food manufacturing, packaging or processing industry experience advantageous
  • Strong commitment to workplace safety and quality standards
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team
  • Good communication skills and attention to detail
