Position Overview:
We are seeking an experienced Project Coordinator (RWC Level C) to support the delivery of welding and fabrication activities across rail, light rail and marine defence projects.
This role is ideal for a trade-qualified Boilermaker/Welder or experienced Welding Coordinator with knowledge of EN 15085 requirements and structured welding quality systems. Working alongside project teams and an EN 15085 Level A Welding Engineer, you will help ensure welding activities are
planned, executed and documented in accordance with project specifications and international rail welding standards.
The position operates on a 3-week rotational roster between Henderson (WA) and Canberra (ACT), supporting major rail manufacturing and fabrication projects. Reporting to the Project Manager, you will work closely with supervisors, quality personnel, inspectors and fabrication teams to ensure
welding quality, compliance, traceability and project delivery are achieved safely and efficiently.
Key Responsibilities:
- Coordinate welding and fabrication activities across rail and defence projects
- Act as the site’s Rail Welding Coordinator (Level C), ensuring compliance with EN 15085, ISO 3834 and project-specific welding standards
- Manage welding procedures, welder qualifications, approvals and technical compliance in collaboration with the Level A Welding Engineer
- Oversee weld quality, NDT, inspections, weld traceability, material control and manufacturing records
- Coordinate Inspection & Test Plans (ITPs), weld documentation, NCRs, repairs and corrective actions
- Support project planning, scheduling, quality reporting, customer inspections and internal/external audits
- Promote a strong safety culture, quality workmanship and continuous improvement across all fabrication activities
About You
You will bring a strong background in fabrication and welding within the rail, rolling stock, heavy fabrication or defence industries, along with experience coordinating welding activities within a
controlled quality environment.
- Trade qualification as a Boilermaker, Welder or equivalent
- Experience coordinating welding activities on rail or heavy fabrication projects
- Sound understanding of EN 15085 welding requirements
- Knowledge of ISO 3834, welding procedures and quality management systems
- Strong understanding of welding processes including MMAW, FCAW, GMAW and GTAW
- Experience with weld sequencing, distortion control, preheat and interpass temperature requirements
- Ability to interpret fabrication drawings and welding documentation
- Excellent communication and organisational skills
- Current Australian working rights

- Defence or marine fabrication experience
