Position Overview:

The HSEQ Advisor works as a trusted partner to operational teams, collaborating closely to interpret, implement and embed Health, Safety, Environment and Quality requirements in practical, effective ways. This hands-on, solutions-driven role supports managers and teams to overcome challenges, adapt standards to real-world conditions and build a strong culture of safety and quality through engagement, coaching and continuous improvement.

Griffin Marine operates nationally across Sydney, Perth, Cairns, Darwin, and Brisbane — this position offers flexibility in location.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Partner with operational teams to translate HSEQ requirements into practical, effective solutions.
  • Support risk assessments, audits and incident investigations focused on learning and improvement.
  • Deliver engaging inductions, training and coaching to build HSEQ capability across teams.
  • Develop, implement and review Health, Safety, Environmental and Quality Management Plans.
  • Monitor site conditions, identify hazards and provide timely, hands-on HSEQ support.
  • Collaborate with contractors and project teams to ensure compliance and continuous improvement.
  • Communicate clearly and build strong relationships across all levels of the organisation.

Qualifications and Experience:

Essential:

  • Minimum Certificate IV in Work Health and Safety.
  • Lead ICAM Investigator certification.
  • Minimum 3+ years’ experience in a HSEQ role within heavy industry – marine, mining, oil & gas or construction.
  • Proven leadership and commitment to workplace safety and compliance.
  • Practical, hands-on experience supporting managers and crews to implement effective safety and quality systems.
  • Strong communication, stakeholder engagement, investigation and problem-solving skills.
  • Self-motivated, proactive team player with the ability to work independently and manage multiple priorities.
  • Current First Aid certification (or working towards).

Desirable:

  • Return to Work and Injury Management Coordinator certification.
  • Lead Auditor qualification in WHS and/or Quality.
  • Mental Health First Aid certification.
  • Formal leadership or coaching training.
