About the role!

As Government and Industry Affairs Manager, you will play a pivotal role in shaping Greyhound Racing NSW’s engagement with government and key stakeholders.

You will lead the organisation’s government relations strategy, strengthen partnerships across all levels of government, and provide strategic advice that supports GRNSW’s priorities and the future of the greyhound racing industry.

Working closely with the Executive Leadership Team, you will represent GRNSW on legislative, regulatory and public policy matters, helping to build our reputation and ensure our voice is heard where it matters most.

Key Responsibilities!

  • Develop and deliver GRNSW’s government relations and advocacy strategy, identifying opportunities to strengthen relationships and influence public policy.
  • Build and maintain trusted relationships with Ministers, Members of Parliament, government agencies, local councils and key industry stakeholders.
  • Lead engagement with the Parliamentary Friends of Greyhound Racing network and other strategic stakeholder groups.
  • Monitor legislative, regulatory and political developments, providing timely advice and recommendations to the Executive Leadership Team.
  • Represent GRNSW at parliamentary briefings, government meetings, industry events and stakeholder forums.
  • Prepare high-quality ministerial briefings, submissions, policy papers, correspondence and advocacy materials
  • Develop stakeholder engagement and communication initiatives that enhance GRNSW’s reputation and effectively communicate organisational priorities.
  • Ensure all government engagement activities are conducted in accordance with legislative, governance and compliance requirements.

About You!

  • Relevant tertiary qualifications in Law, Public Policy, Government Relations, Communications, or a related field. 
  • 5-7 years of experience in government relations, corporate affairs, regulatory compliance, or similar, ideally in a regulated industry. 
  • Proven experience engaging with government at all levels, especially state and local representatives. 
  • Strong understanding of the NSW and Commonwealth legislative and regulatory environment, with the ability to analyse and respond to policy changes. 
  • Excellent communication skills, with the ability to craft persuasive reports and presentations for diverse audiences. 
  • Demonstrated ability to foster relationships with government and community stakeholders.
