We’re looking for reliable and enthusiastic Kitchen Hands and Dining Room Attendants to join our catering team at Good Shepherd Lodge in both East Mackay and Beaconsfield, who are dedicated and empathetic to join our team and help provide our residents with exceptional dining experiences.
About the Role
As a Kitchen Hand or Dining Room Attendant, you will play a key role in ensuring a positive and enjoyable dining experience for our residents. Kitchen hands will support the preparation and service of nutritious, high-quality meals for our residents while maintaining excellent food safety and hygiene standards. Dining Attendants will be part of assisting with meal service, maintaining a clean and safe dining area, and contributing to a welcoming and homely atmosphere.
What You’ll Be Doing
Kitchen Hands:
- Assisting with food preparation, plating and meal service
- Washing dishes, utensils and kitchen equipment
- Maintaining cleanliness of the kitchen, dining and food storage areas
- Supporting compliance with food safety, hygiene and infection control standards
- Working collaboratively with cooks and catering staff to meet residents’ dietary needs
Dining Room Attendants:
- Set up and clear dining areas, ensuring they are clean and well-presented at all times.
- Serve meals to residents in a courteous and efficient manner, adhering to individual dietary requirements.
- Clean and sanitize dining tables, chairs, and kitchen equipment as required.
- Monitor resident feedback on meals and communicate any special dietary needs or preferences to the kitchen team.
- Adhere to infection control and safety protocols at all times.
About You:
- Previous experience in a similar role, preferably within an aged care or healthcare setting, is an advantage.
- Strong interpersonal and communication skills, with the ability to work well as part of a team.
- Compassionate and patient, with a commitment to providing high-quality care to older adults.
- Ability to work efficiently and multitask in a busy environment.
- Hospitality or Food Handling qualifications (e.g., Certificate III in Hospitality) are desirable but not essential.
- Current Flu Vaccination or willingness to obtain one.
- Current National Police Check or willingness to obtain one.
