Good Shepherd Lodge Ltd is situated in Mackay and operates two aged care facilities comprising 280 beds across both sites: Good Shepherd Lodge and Kerrisdale Gardens, as well as over 100 Independent Living Units and Home Care services. The Opportunity
We are seeking a compassionate, dedicated and professional Registered Nurse to join our Kerrisdale Gardens team. In this role, you will provide effective holistic nursing care and ensure a safe working environment for all staff and residents, while supporting a model of care that prioritizes collaboration, continuous learning, and resident wellbeing.

Specific Duties and Responsibilities
Caring for People
- Show compassion and commitment to residents, relatives, and team members.
Integrity
- Use authority and responsibilities appropriately and ethically.
Clinical and Leadership Responsibilities
- Provide direct nursing care and clinical guidance to residents, their families, and care staff.
- Ensure best practice and quality assurance in all nursing activities.
- Supervise and support Assistants in Nursing (AINs), and nursing students.
- Oversee and ensure accurate completion of Aged Care Funding Instrument (ACFI) documentation.
- Manage appropriate allocation and responsible use of medical supplies and staff resources.
Model of Nursing Care
- Provide total resident care using a professional partnership and collaborative approach.
- Promote teamwork among nurses for optimal resident outcomes.
- Facilitate education and professional development of nursing staff, including preceptorships and succession planning.
- Advocate for residents and their families within a multidisciplinary framework.
- Perform additional duties as directed by management
Selection Criteria
Essential
- Bachelor of Nursing
- Current registration with the Australian Health Practitioner Regulation Agency (AHPRA)
- Demonstrated honesty, integrity, and respect in all interactions
- Recent experience in a clinical setting, hospital or aged care setting
- Evidence of Covid-19 vaccination in accordance with the current Public Health Directive for Aged Care Facilities and annual flu vaccination
- Police Check Clearance
Desirable
- Strong self-management and adaptability
- Previous experience in aged care
- Knowledge of ACFI and relevant aged care standards
- Compassionate, respectful, and professional nature
- Commitment to consumer dignity, privacy, and care
