Senior Electrical Engineer

GEM Energy / RACQ Solar is seeking an RPEQ-registered Senior Electrical Engineer to lead the design and certification of electrical work across our residential and commercial solar PV and battery projects.

Embedded in our design team, you’ll prepare and review electrical designs — single line diagrams, layouts, cable and equipment schedules — and run the load assessments, system sizing and performance simulations that underpin safe, compliant systems. Critically, you’ll certify engineering work under your RPEQ registration, taking personal responsibility for the accuracy, safety and compliance of your own designs and those of the junior engineers you mentor and supervise.

Beyond the drawing board, you’ll support project teams end-to-end — through procurement, installation and commissioning — conducting site inspections and QA checks, assisting with grid connection documentation, and providing technical input to tenders and proposals.

You’ll thrive here if you have:

• A bachelor’s degree in electrical engineering and current RPEQ (Electrical) registration
• SAA accreditation and Engineers Australia membership
• Proven experience designing solar PV and battery systems
• Strong command of AS/NZS 3000, 3008, 5033, 4777 and 5139, plus DNSP connection requirements
• Proficiency with PVsyst, Helioscope and AutoCAD
