- Certificate IV or Diploma in Youth Work/Community Services or related field, or demonstrated equivalent experience.

Galambila Aboriginal Health Service delivers culturally safe, holistic primary health care to Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander people on Gumbaynggirr Country. Established in 1998, Galambila has grown into a large multidisciplinary service supporting the health and wellbeing of the local community. Services include general medical care, chronic disease management, mental health, allied health, dental, maternal and child health, youth health and a range of outreach and community programs. All programs are delivered in a culturally informed, welcoming and community-driven way.
Galambila’s work is guided by the values of Compassion, Respect, Empowerment, Inclusivity and Accountability. Governance is provided by a community-elected Board, with daily operations led by the CEO and leadership team to ensure services reflect community needs and aspirations.
The Youth Worker (Male) provides culturally safe, practical and strengths-based support to Aboriginal boys and young men aged approximately 10-17 years. The role focuses on early intervention, positive engagement, mentoring, wellbeing promotion, goal planning, service navigation and connection to culture, community and positive male role models.
The Youth Worker (Male) works as part of the multidisciplinary Child, Youth & Family Health team, working closely with Psychologists, Social Workers, Registered Nurses, Aboriginal Health Workers and other team members to deliver holistic and culturally grounded support to young people.
The Youth Worker (Male):
•Provides culturally safe, trauma-informed and strengths-based support that promotes the social, emotional and developmental wellbeing of Aboriginal boys and young men.
•Provides one-on-one mentoring, practical support and positive male role modelling to strengthen confidence, resilience, cultural identity and connection.
•Supports early intervention by identifying emerging wellbeing, behavioural or safety concerns and escalating these appropriately to the Child, Youth & Family clinical team.
•Plans and delivers youth engagement activities, group programs, outreach and wellbeing initiatives responsive to the interests and needs of young males.
•Assists young people to access health, mental health, education, training, employment, recreation, cultural and community services and opportunities.
•Maintains accurate documentation and contributes to reporting, evaluation and continuous quality improvement.
Desirable:
Aboriginality.
Experience working in an Aboriginal Community Controlled Health Organisation or with Aboriginal communities.
Knowledge of local youth services, cultural networks, Elders, mentors and community pathways.
Experience facilitating youth groups, cultural activities, sporting programs, workshops, camps or outreach activities.
