Forward Ability Support is a not-for-profit organisation with 60 years history of providing key services to people with spinal cord injuries or similar related health conditions. We are driven to make a brighter and more positive future for our community by supporting people with spinal cord injuries to live their best life.

We’re currently looking for disability support workers to assist in the client’s home with high-intensity personal care in the Campbelltown area.

You will assist with daily tasks, such as:

  • Mobility and Transfers – Helping clients into or out of bed, wheelchair, commode chair and hoist.
  • Showering and Hygiene Maintenance – showering, getting clients dressed, brushing teeth and grooming and other daily personal care activities.
  • Toileting – provide bladder and bowel care, including enema insertion and digital stimulation, changing/emptying catheter bags, and caring for stoma bags.
  • Mealtime Preparation and Feeding – assist in the preparation of meals and feeding client in compliance with their meal plan.
  • Domestic Assistance – keeping the home clean and tidy, including cleaning bathroom, washing dishes, laundry and cleaning after and feeding pets, changing bed sheets, watering plants and gardening.
  • Community Access – driving clients safely to appointments and community visits using client’s car.
  • Record Keeping – record daily progress notes for all care provided, report incidents and escalate concerns.

Available shifts:

  • Monday: 7am-10am
  • Tuesday: 6am-10am; 4pm-6pm
  • Wednesday: 6am-10am; 12pm-2pm; 4pm-6pm
  • Thursday: 8am-11am; 12pm-2pm; 4pm-6pm
  • Saturday: 7am-11am
  • Sunday: 7am-11am

Important things you should know about the role:

  • We’re looking for Casuals with the intention to convert to Permanent.
  • Casual hourly rate from $43.23 per hour (including Casual loading).
  • We’re conducting in-person, face-to-face interviews in our Newington office on Tuesdays and Wednesdays. You must be available to attend the in-person interview.
