Position Overview:
We are seeking a Commercial Manager who will play a pivotal role in supporting our growth by managing budgeting, commercial operations, and legal issues. This position will allow our COO/CEO to focus on strategic initiatives by taking on key responsibilities in finance and operations. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in accounting and finance, coupled with commercial experience, to support the company’s evolving needs.
Key Responsibilities:
- Budgeting and Financial Reporting:
- Own the budgeting process, forecasts, and financial reporting.
- Track performance metrics, explain variances, and highlight potential issues for early intervention.
- Pricing and Deal Structuring:
- Set and manage pricing strategies and deal structures.
- Ensure pricing reflects the work and risks involved in our services.
- Contract and Legal Management:
- Draft, review, and maintain customer and partner agreements.
- Collaborate with external legal counsel as necessary.
- Risk and Credit Exposure Management:
- Manage financial risks and credit exposure related to prepayments and customer reliability.
- Identify areas that could lead to financial losses and implement mitigation strategies.
- Support for Growth and M&A Activity:
- Assist with the financial, commercial, and contractual aspects of new products, partnerships, investments, and acquisitions.
Qualifications:
- CPA qualification or equivalent (preferred).
- Strong background in commercial finance, budgeting, and accounting.
- Experience in contract negotiation and legal agreements is a plus.
- Experience in finance, commodities risk or within a trading environment; with knowledge of controls and structures
- Ability to analyse financial data and provide actionable insights.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
- Proactive approach to problem-solving and managing risks.
- Experience in the environmental commodities or renewable energy sector is advantageous, but not essential.
