Role Overview & Purpose
As the second member of the product marketing team, you’ll play a hands-on role in making Fat Zebra’s products easy to understand, adopt, and support. You’ll work closely with the Senior Product Marketing Manager to shape how we explain our products – creating helpful, human content across documentation, internal tools, customer resources and beyond.
Your first major project is our external help centre — building it, structuring it, and putting a process in place that makes our documentation a competitive differentiator. It’s the foundation for how customers self-serve and how Fat Zebra scales.
If you love turning “what does this even do?” into “oh, I get it now,” and want to grow your career in product, this role is for you.
Role Responsibilities
- Documentation: Create materials that not only explain how to do something, but what outcomes a customer can achieve with Fat Zebra products. Expect to communicate in writing, images, and short form videos.
- Content performance tracking: Measure which docs and resources actually get used and iterate based on what’s working. Feed your findings back to the Product and Support teams.
- Campaign management: Creation of assets including release notes, email copy, one-pagers and more around new feature introductions and upsell campaigns.
- Internal enablement: Maintain internal toolkits and conduct competitive/customer research to inform roadmaps and GTM strategy, building deep product and market knowledge to support sales and support colleagues.
How You Know You’ll Succeed
Fat Zebra’s Product Marketing Associate will have several areas we want you to succeed and where we want you to create impact.
Your documentation measurably reduces confusion. Fewer repeat questions to Support, faster time-to-value for customers using features for the first time.
Campaign assets for feature launches ship on time, are used as-is by Sales and Support, and read as clear rather than jargon-heavy.
Sales and Support colleagues say they feel confident explaining new products and features, because the documentation and toolkits you maintain are current and genuinely useful.
Skills & Experience
To hit the ground running, you will need to leverage your capability in the following areas:
- 2+ years’ experience in a customer-facing role, such as customer support, business development or customer success.
- Strong writing skills – you can take something complex or technical and explain it simply and clearly.
- Clear and confident communication, both written and verbal, across different audiences.
- Curiosity and a willingness to learn across functions. Product marketing sits in the middle of sales, support, product and engineering, and you’re comfortable picking up context from all of them.
Experience that will support you could include
- Working in payments or fintech-related businesses.
- Experience with Atlassian tools, Hubspot, PostHog or similar tools.
- Visual design experience – dabbled in video editing or graphic design, for example.
