About the role

This is an opportunity for highly skilled and experienced Maritime Security Officers living locally in Karratha to join our team in a casual position.

As a Maritime Security Officer, you will have a strong understanding of Maritime Security zones, regulations and laws. We also need you to be aware of the sensitivity to cultural differences and demonstrate teamwork when working with our clients, stakeholders, visitors and staff.

About You

  • Knowledge of International Ship and Port Facility (ISPS) Code Port Facility Security Officer (PFSO) (Desirable)
  • Previous experience in a security officer role working in ports, mine sites or similar environments
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills
  • High sense of responsibility and initiative
  • Ability to work independently

You will be required (but not limited) to:

  • Actively patrolling onsite
  • Maritime Security water patrols (water vehicle)
  • Gatehouse monitoring and access control
  • Load Restraints vehicle checks
  • Attend to client and visitor needs with exceptional customer service
  • Focus on early identification of potential disturbances with the view to de-escalate and contain potential incidents
  • Monitor security CCTV and alarm systems on a regular basis
  • Maintain records and registers relevant to security and running in building and onsite
  • Show resilience and the ability to remain calm under pressure
  • Liaise with the client and assist police and emergency services when required
  • First Aid response and management
  • Demonstrate competence in spoken and written English

Eligibility for the role:

  • Certificate II in Security Operations (essential)
  • WA Security Officer License and Card (essential)
  • Valid Maritime Security Identification Card (MSIC) (desirable)
  • Current Provide First Aid (HLTAID011) – within 3 years
  • Current Provide Cardiopulmonary Resuscitation (CPR) (HLTAID009) – within 12 months
  • Current National Police Clearance (not more than 6 months old)
  • Valid Australian unrestricted Driver’s License (essential)
  • HLTPAT005 – Authorised Drug and Alcohol Screening Officer accreditation (desirable).
  • Load Restraint Awareness for Road Transport certification (desirable).
