About the Role
To provide assistance to the Library Manager in activities related to the provision of a library service of quality in an academic library. To provide assistance to the Library Manager in managing the Research Management System. To provide effective and efficient coordination of Excelsia University Library’s collection and resources, and technical equipment and digital services.To provide excellent customer service provided to staff and students.
Primary responsibilities include:
- Process, catalogue, and shelve library resources and new acquisitions.
- Respond to enquiries at the library desk, by phone, or email.
- Assist users in navigating library services, databases, and online resources.
- Support staff and students in locating physical and electronic library materials efficiently.
- Help users with common access issues.
Selection Criteria
Qualifications and Professional Standing:
- Committed Christian involved in a local congregation.
- Possession of a relevant degree level qualification, in Library Services.
- 2 years’ experience working in a University or Public Library.
- Working in a higher education setting (or equivalent) would be an advantage.
- Demonstrated ability to provide a full range of library services activities including cataloguing,
stock take, managin and updating library systems, answering enquiries.
- Demonstrated capacity to provide advice relating to organisational policies and procedures.
- An understanding of current and emerging trends in higher education and/or library services.
- Technological literacy in a wide range of desktop applications to support technical requirements of the role as well as library research management system
- Excellent oral and written communication skills.
- Proven organisational skills with the ability to prioritise and meet deadlines.
