About the Role
We are looking for expressions of interest for casual, full-time or part-time professionals to join our talent pool. Your role will be responsible for maintaining all technical and mechanical aspects of Engage Marine Tugs within our port operations. Utilising your skills and experience, you’ll be taking on fulfilling responsibilities to ensure the vessel mechanics operate to the highest standard, in the safest way possible to achieve high performing port operations.
Role & Responsibilities
- Direct control of all engineering aspects of the vessel’s operations & maintenance.
- Maintain the vessel in accordance with regulations, AMSA and class certificates.
- Liaise with the Master regarding the condition of the vessel’s propulsion & ancillary systems and ensure that all surveys are current and up to date.
- Ensure planned maintenance tasks are completed, and any other online/paper-based company system is updated when tasks have been carried out.
- Follow safe working procedures, operating procedures and guidelines supporting a safe work environment and should be fully conversant with all Safety, Quality, Pollution Control and contingency planning manuals and statutory regulations governing their responsibilities in the engine room and in general.
- Complete Logbook entries of all maintenance items and weekly running hours.
- Complete Oil record book entries – bunkering fuel oil, lubricating oil, waste and bilge disposal, O.W.S operations.
- Responsible for the safe bunkering of fuel & oils.
Skills & Qualifications
- Minimum qualification: Engineer Class 3 Near Coastal (NC).
- Minimum 2 years’ experience as a Tug Engineer undertaking similar operations.
- ASD/ATD or similar marine mechanical and operations experience.
- Highly developed leadership, interpersonal and communication skills.
- Demonstrated understanding of marine and safety legislation as well as environmental requirements.
- Sound decision making and a proactive and confident approach to problem solving.
- Well-developed organisational and administrative skills, including attention to detail and the ability to prioritise and control own workload.
