About the Role
As a Residential Case Manager with EP Youth in Mackay, you’ll play an important role in supporting the safety, wellbeing and development of Children and Young People who may have experienced trauma, abuse, neglect or other complex circumstances.
Working under the direction of the Area Manager, you’ll provide leadership, guidance and supervision to a team of Youth Workers and Team Leaders, helping ensure our residential services deliver safe, consistent, trauma informed and child centred care.
You’ll support staff to implement each young person’s individualised care and case plan, respond appropriately to complex behaviours and critical incidents, develop the capability of your team, and maintain strong standards across documentation, reporting, compliance and day to day service delivery.
This is a hands-on leadership role requiring someone who can balance the needs of Children and Young People with team leadership, case management, administration and operational responsibilities.

Through our EP Youth division, we support Children and Young People who have experienced trauma, abuse or neglect. Our approach brings together developmental understanding, therapeutic support and cultural awareness to create safe and nurturing environments where young people can recover, develop and work towards positive outcomes.

Key Responsibilities
• Provide leadership, guidance and supervision to Youth Workers and Team Leaders, promoting effective communication, collaboration and adherence to organisational policies and procedures.
• Ensure each young person’s individualised care and case plan is consistently understood, followed and implemented across day to day service delivery.
• Support the delivery of safe, therapeutic, supportive and inclusive environments for Children and Young People in accordance with organisational policies and child protection standards.
• Support staff in responding therapeutically and appropriately to Children and Young People presenting with complex needs and behaviours.
• Ensure child safety plans, risk controls, safety measures and procedures are understood and followed by the team.
• Coach, mentor and develop Youth Workers and Team Leaders to strengthen capability and support a high performing team.
• Lead by example, motivate staff and encourage continuous improvement in educational, developmental and wellbeing outcomes for Children and Young People.
• Encourage reflective practice, professional dialogue and collaboration among team members.
• Organise and facilitate regular team meetings to support communication, coordination and alignment.
• Collaborate with the Area Manager and recruitment team to support interviews, onboarding, inductions and buddy shifts for new employees.
• Mentor and train new employees to strengthen their understanding of therapeutic support, child safety requirements and service expectations.
• Ensure case records, reports, performance documentation, information management and required data entry are completed accurately and within required timeframes.
• Ensure reports and documentation are thorough, accurate and completed promptly.
• Maintain appropriate privacy, confidentiality and information management practices.
• Effectively utilise company software and systems to support operational and administrative requirements.
• Manage relevant receipts, invoices and financial documentation associated with service delivery and ensure required records are uploaded appropriately.
• Provide administrative support to the Area Manager and other managers when required, demonstrating sound judgement, initiative, confidentiality and sensitivity.
• Participate in on call responsibilities and respond promptly to urgent staffing and operational requirements when required.
• Comply with Workplace Health and Safety requirements and actively participate in workplace risk identification and risk management processes.
Skills & Experience
Experience
• Demonstrated experience in team leadership, supervision or team management within Child Safety, youth, community services or a related environment.
• Experience supporting Children and Young People, particularly those with complex needs and behaviours, is highly regarded.
• Experience supporting vulnerable individuals with complex needs and the ability to respond calmly and appropriately to challenging situations.
• A child centred and strengths based approach to working with Children, Young People and families.
• Knowledge and understanding of trauma informed therapeutic care, including approaches to de escalation and responding to critical incidents.
• Understanding of child safety plans and the importance of consistently following identified safety measures, risk controls and procedures.
• Understanding of the Child Protection sector and its role in supporting Children and Young People.
• Understanding of the principles of the Child Protection Act 1999 and relevant legislative and professional obligations.
• Ability to think creatively and exercise sound professional judgement when responding to complex circumstances.

Mandatory Requirements

• QLD Open Driver’s Licence: Current and valid licence. A copy of the front and back will be required.
• Traffic History Report: Covering the previous five years and issued within the last six months.
• QLD Working with Children Blue Card: Current paid Blue Card.
• Child Safety and Personal History Screening (LCS2): Completed as required.
• National Australian Police Check: Issued within the last six months.
• First Aid and CPR: Current nationally recognised First Aid (HLTAID011) and CPR (HLTAID009) certificates.
• Infection Prevention and Control Training: The Basics of Infection Prevention and Control training, or equivalent acceptable training.
